Pre-Wedding Fights with Groom Solutions

Planning a wedding can be both tricky and stressful, and multiply those trouble by about a million when you and your groom can't seem to agree on anything. While you might be feeling blindsided the pointless squabbles you and your husband-to-be are having (especially if you rarely fought before) the good news is you're not alone. In fact, it's quite common to bicker over wedding details as you're both feeling the stress of planning your big day. To help you keep the peace (and your sanity!) we're covering the most common bride-and-groom pre-wedding squabbles and how to solve them.

The Problem: He wants to splurge on a band; you want a pricey caterer.
The Solution: See if you can find the budget for both by cutting back in another area you both agree on, like the flowers or the guest list.

The Problem: You love romantic details; he's worried the wedding will look too girly.
The Solution: Start with a modern color palette (say, black and white) and clean-lined décor (think sleek metal tables, not reclaimed wood), then add your pretty flourishes. Voilá: balance!

The Problem: You belong to different faiths and each want a religious ceremony.
The Solution: You can hire two officiants for your I do's or have one combine elements from both faiths into your service. If all else fails, you can always have two separate ceremonies (on the same day or not).

Love has found Jurassic Park's Jeff Goldblum for the third time! His rep confirmed that the 62-year-old actor married his 31-year-old girlfriend of more than three years — and fiancée of four months — Emilie Livingston this past weekend at Los Angeles's famed Chateau Marmont.

"It was a night filled with love, music, and lots of laughs," a source close to the couple told Us Weekly of the evening, during which Goldblum played piano and sang for his new wife.

In July the lovebirds flew to Hawaii for a romantic vacation where Goldblum popped the question. After the proposal Livingston, who is an actress, aerialist, and contortionist, took to her Twitter to express how she was "taken over by tears of joy n ecstasy" over the engagement. "We picked the ring 2gether #inlove," she continued about the betrothal.

As for Goldblum, he hasn't been shy about his adoration for Livingston, either. He told Broadway.com last December that his future wife was "spectacular and beautiful." He continued to gush, "I'm happy as a clam with her. I feel lucky, lucky, lucky."

"When people meet Emilie, they say she's magical and very sweet and they're happy for me," he also said at that time.

This marks Goldblum's third marriage. It sounds like he has found a very special relationship and that they both hosted a wonderful evening! We can only hope that like the photo bomb he made famous a few months back, one of his former Independence Day or Jurassic Park costars played their part and were not only present but created an epic wedding photo to remember.

The 5 Most Commonly Procrastinated Wedding-Planning Tasks

Most Procrastinated Wedding Planning Tasks

Photo: JWstudio

Owner of Weddings in Vieques, a destination-wedding planning company off the coast of Puerto Rico, Sandy Malone has helped countless couples plan their big day since 2007. Here, she reveals the wedding tasks couples always put off to the very last minute.

In more than seven years and almost 500 weddings planned, I've learned that all of my brides and grooms are different. However, the vast majority have one thing in common — they procrastinate about the same wedding-planning assignments. Not doing wedding homework makes the last couple months before the big day unnecessarily stressful and chaotic. Here, the five things that are nearly impossible for most brides and grooms to accomplish on time:

1. Choosing and ordering the wedding invitations
Etiquette permits you to mail the invitations as far as four months out for a home wedding, and a year beforehand for a destination wedding. Even though mailing them out at the earliest possible date gives you more budget planning time, some brides and grooms procrastinate until the RSVP date is bumping up against their deadline for turning in final headcounts and dinner orders.

2. Making the DJ playlist for ceremony and reception music
This is usually due a month or more ahead of the wedding to give the DJ time to make sure they have all the right versions of the songs you're requesting.

See more: Advice Brides Are Most Likely to Ignore

3. Writing the wedding ceremony and vows
Unless you're getting married in a church where the order of ceremony is dictated by the prayer book, you have some decisions to make about what prayers, vows and blessings you want to be a part of your wedding.

4. Deciding who will give the toasts at the wedding reception
Usually, it's the best man, maid of honor, parents of the grooms, parents of the bride, and the bride and groom who make a toast — but some people feel like they have to include half the guest list and can't decide which half!

5. Making the place card chart and giving the dinner orders to the caterer
This is difficult to complete if you let the RSVPs go too late because all of a sudden you're trying to track down all the MIA's and at the same time you're attending bridal showers and bachelor parties.

How Not to Alienate Your Friends After You Get Married

how-friendships-change.jpg

Let's face it: A lot of things change once you tie the knot, including your friendships! It takes some work to make sure you maintain your place as one of the girls, but it's not that hard. Follow these steps to make sure your friendships stay the same before and after you get hitched — and thank us later.

Put a girls' night (or day) on your calendar every month.
Whether it's a weekend away or an afternoon of brunch and shopping, you must make time for your girlfriends as they make up your support system. And make sure not to cancel this time — it should be a fixture in your schedule and you all should treat it with extreme importance.

Sharing is caring.
All of your dating experiences are behind you, but that doesn't mean that they never happened. When your single friends commiserate about their bad dates or even their good ones, make sure that you're contributing to the conversation with moments from your past. They'll show them that finding "the one" is possible (you're living proof) and that at the very least, those dates have given you hilarious fodder long after they happened.

See More: How Will Your Friendships Change After You Get Married?

Be supportive and empathetic.
While you're growing accustomed to your new role as a wife, it's important to not forget that it isn't all about you. Make sure you're supporting your friends in all their endeavors and being empathetic to the frustration and confusion that sometimes come with dating. It wasn't too long ago when you were in their shoes.

Make sure your spouse knows all your friends and include him in some of your get-togethers.
You don't need to alienate your spouse or your friends for nights out. Get everyone together a few times a year and get all of your favorite people in the same room for maximum bonding.

Don't lose your fun side.
Make sure you're still the same exciting woman you were before and keep a little excitement and adventure — you can take some moments away from your husband to just let loose. Everyone needs that.

Whoa, Marc Anthony Is Married!

Marc Anthony is Married to Shannon De Lima

Talk about a race to the altar! Just last week we learned that Marc Anthony proposed to model Shannon de Lima in March, but now the Associated Press confirms the two stars are officially husband and wife!

Anthony and Lima married yesterday in an intimate ceremony at his private residence in the exclusive Casa De Campo resort, located in La Romana, Dominican Republic. Only 100 of their closest family and friends witnessed their nuptials. According to Us Weekly the small guest list included Latin music stars Juan Luis Guerra, Carlos Vives, Tito El Bambino, along with Anthony's business partner Charles Koppelman and the CEO of Spring Corporation Marcelo Claure.

While unconfirmed, we'd bet that the couple's children — Anthony has four children from his first marriage to Dayanara Torres and twins from his second marriage to Jennifer Lopez, while De Lima has a son from a previous relationship — were all in attendance.

See More: Which Celebrity Couple Will Tie the Knot Next?

Lopez, whom Anthony was still legally married to at the time when he proposed to De Lima, has nothing but good things to say about her ex-husband and his new wife. "I'm happy for him," Lopez told the New York Daily News last week.

And though Anthony has been unlucky in love before, he seems hopeful that his third marriage will go the distance. "God has blessed me in so many ways. Material things go, but so far. Success goes, but so far, but when your house is empty and you don't have someone to invest in — if you don't have a witness, it's almost worthless," he told Wendy Williams in February.

Your wedding day will surely be a roller coaster of emotions as unique as the big day you've planned. But there are some thoughts that every bride is sure to ponder. Here, real brides dish on what they thought on their wedding day.

What if I trip going down the aisle?
"I slipped on my shoes — these gorgeous peep-toe stilettos — and I froze," says one bride. "It occurred to me in that moment that there was a very good chance one of those beautiful heels was going to sink into the grass and I'd fall on my face in front of everyone."

I'm nervous.
"I loved my [then fiancé] very much, and I knew I was marrying the right man," says a bride. "But I still felt worried. I think if you didn't worry, you might be taking the whole marriage thing way too lightly."

I really hope nothing goes wrong.
"You want to be that bride who gets away with everything going just as planned," says another bride. "Ha! It's a fun thought to entertain, but it's not going to happen."

Is it time for the ceremony yet?
"I thought the morning would fly by because of all we had to do — the hair and makeup and pictures with the girls," says a bride. "But it crawled. I found myself checking the clock constantly and only five minutes would have passed. I was ready to get married and wanted time to just hurry up!"

What will my fiancé think when he finally sees me?
"My husband and I decided to do a first look, and I was both excited and nervous for him to turn around and see me," explains one bride. "I worried that he wouldn't like the dress I picked, or the way I did my hair. But I also secretly hoped he would like it so much he would cry!"

Wedding Registry Trend: Concrete Designs

Registry Trend Concrete Designs

The concrete registry trend is for the modern bride who plans on getting hitched in a super cool, bare-bones industrial space. Concrete DIYs have been popping up for a while, but recently home goods in this raw material seem to be everywhere. From tables to benches and even lamps and candlesticks, we're loving this fresh approach to bringing a commonplace industrial element inside the home.

If you're feeling confident enough to really go big and commit to this trend we love this chunky concrete coffee table and nightstand, both from CB2. This coffee table lends itself well to a minimalist space, with clean lines and a no-nonsense silhouette. The nightstand features more detail and hardware, which means it will complement other styles of furniture you might already have in your bedroom.

One of our favorite pieces is this amazing lamp bundle from Etsy — the gold interior is a fun little surprise. Other ways to try the concrete trend is to register for coasters (we love that hexagon pattern) and candleholders. For the kitchen, we found painted cement bowls, a salt canister with a pretty walnut lid, and a utensil holder made of the modern material.

Country Star Brantley Gilbert's Mystery Fiancée Revealed! See His Gorgeous Bride-to-Be Here

Brantley Gilbert engaged

Country singer Brantley Gilbert announced he was engaged to the muse behind his hit songs "More Than Miles" and "You Don't Know Her Like I Do" last month, but fans were left in the dark about the identity of the lucky lady. Now, though, the star is more than willing to open up about his future wife.

Gilbert quietly snuck his new fiancée (who was clad in a glam gold dress) to the CMA Awards last week, but because they walked the red carpet so quickly, most fans missed her seriously stunning public debut.

So who is his not-so-secret fiancée? According to an interview with People, Gilbert is set to marry Amber Cochran, a school teacher from his hometown. After ending his engagement to fellow country singer Jana Kramer in August 2013, he rekindled his romance with Cochran (seen in the photo below).

"It was one of those things that was on and off for a few years — mostly on — and then she was the one that got away for about five years," Brantley said last month. "It came back around and I've never been happier. This little one, she's the one, and I'm a pretty stoked dude. I'm pretty excited to say the least."

Based on a video from Headline Country, it looks like she's sporting a very sparkly engagement ring with either a cushion or round-cut diamond center stone.

"Amber is an amazing person and has inspired a lot of songs ... for the last 10 years," Gilbert tells People. "I'm a blessed man to have her back in my life and can't wait to make her my wife."

As for wedding plans, these two are planning to exchange vows in June 2015 — clearly Brantley won't let her get away this time!

Wedding-Night Sex: Expectations vs. Reality

Wedding Night Sex Expectation vs. Reality from The Plunge

Photo: Getty Images

Every week, we give our readers a glimpse inside the mindset of a guy's brain on weddings with the help of the hilarious and smart editors at The Plunge. For their latest installment, they're breaking down the expectations and reality of wedding-night sex.

Back in medieval times a couple had to consummate the wedding or it wasn't considered a binding contract. Then again, there were no utensils (or Pepsi) in medieval times. Today, couples have a choice. Most people still grow up with the traditional belief that the wedding night is for steamy hot crazy monkey sex because that's awesome, but as times have changed so have the expectations and realities of wedding-night sex. So in the words of some of the sexier songs of all time, here's what you might be anticipating versus what you should prepare for.

Expectation: "Talk Dirty to Me"
Like a couple of teenagers on prom night, we're getting frisky in the old man's Ford, aka the limo (yeah, went Poison on you), before we even leave the reception hall parking lot.

Reality: We had one shot too many with our fraternity bros and halfway between the reception hall and the hotel the limo is pulled over, we're hunched behind the bushes, and you are most definitely not screaming for more.

Expectation: "I'll Make Love to You"
We go back to our honeymoon suite, turn on our favorite slow jams, light some candles, break out the massage oils, fill the bubble bath with rose petals, and slowly seduce each other all night, sharing in newlywed ecstasy until the sun comes up.

Reality: Girl, relax, let's go slow — but not too slow. By the time I pour the wine and light the fire, you're fast asleep after an exhausting day. We said throw your clothes on the floor, not pass out on it.

Expectation: "Let's Get It On"
Marvin said it best: "I've been really tryin', baby. Tryin' to hold back these feelings for so long. And if you feel like I feel baby, come on, oh come on." After all the planning, the big day has come and gone in a flash. There's only one thing left to do.

Reality: There's nothin' wrong with me lovin' you. Except there is something wrong with me — one thing in particular. I an't gonna worry, I ain't gonna push ... because I had too much whiskey.

Expectation: "The Thong Song"
Do we really even have to say it?

Reality: Ooh that dress so scandalous ... and damn hard to get off! There's a zipper, and some hooks, and why the hell are there so many of these button things? All night long — screw it, let me see that thong in the morning. (Side note: What a bizarre time 1999 was to be alive. Chalk it up to Y2K hysteria. Remember when that was a thing?)

Expectation: "We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off"
We could dance and party all night and drink some cherry wine ... and be too tired to na na na na na na na na. You've probably read plenty of articles about how lots of couples these days don't have wedding-night sex for any of the aforementioned reasons. Many of these couples are your friends and will remind you of this fact when you're trying to get excited about your super erotic reward for all the pains of planning.

Reality: Best. Sex. Ever. Your friends are boring as hell. Bring on the honeymoon!

6 Foods That Will Help You De-Stress While Wedding Planning

De-stressing Foods Before Wedding Chocolate

It's no secret that wedding planning can be stressful, but did you know what you eat can affect anxiety? While greasy fries may feel like the answer (and taste really good), they may be making you feel worse, according to Registered Dietician Julie Upton. She recommends reaching for these six healthy foods when the big day has you bugging out.

Greek yogurt
Blood pressure rises when you're stressed. Other than making you feel anxious, chronic high blood pressure can lead to serious health problems. So take a break from obsessing over that seating chart and reach for foods that are high in potassium, like dairy products, to control blood pressure, according to Upton. If you have a dairy sensitivity, try potatoes, bananas or avocados.

In-shell pistachios
Eating nuts in the shell is a great way to slow you down and make you eat less, but cracking is great for stress too. Upton says, "the act of opening up the shell can help you relax." She prefers pistachios, which are also rich in heart healthy nutrients.

Dark chocolate
As if we needed it, here's your excuse to eat chocolate. "A one-ounce piece of dark chocolate or a hot cocoa made with real dark chocolate can also help relax blood vessels to alleviate stress," says Upton. Doctor's orders...

Tea
Feeling stuck on those vows you've been meaning to write? Upton recommends sipping a cup of tea to reboot your mind. "Tea has been shown to help activate areas of the brain that help you focus and organize your thinking to accomplish tasks better, " she says.

Crunchy veggies
On the border of a tiff with your bridesmaid? Take your aggression out on some crunchy vegetables like carrots, bell peppers, Jicama. "Whatever veggie you like, munch on it when you're starting to feel the anxiety rise," Upton says. The crunchier, the better.

Seafood
Besides being great for your weight loss, seafood is also a great to combat anxiety. DHA/EPA, found in seafood, keeps your stress levels balanced, according to Upton. Grill up some salmon for yourself and the groom the week of the wedding to relax.

And while there are foods you should stock up on in preparation of your big day, there are, of course, some snacks you should avoid at all costs. Fried foods, potato chips and sugary sodas may seem like comfort food, but they'll only make your bad day worse. "Studies show eating low-quality 'junk' food simply adds to feelings of depression and may make your stress worse in the long run," Upton says. Stay away from too much caffeine if it makes you feel jittery. Happy bride, happy wedding.

10 Minutes with Stone Fox Bride's Creative Director Molly Guy

Molly Guy launched Stone Fox Bride in 2010, a year after her own engagement, as a response to her own search for a wedding dress; an experience she found disenchanting. One year later, Stone Fox Bride opened its doors in New York City as an alternative bridal salon, imagined as a "mellow, easygoing sanctuary full of laid back, high-fashion dresses" perfect for brides who want to channel their own personal style on their big day.

We sat down with Guy to learn more about the Honor x Stone Fox Bride collection, her take on bridal trends, and her top style tips for brides on their wedding day.

Guy has been waiting a long time to work with Honor.
"I've been a huge fan of Honor for years — I am friends with the designer and owner Giovanna Randall and with the chief creative officer Rachel Fleit," Guy explains. "I really believe in their mystical, ethereal, darkly romantic vibe, and have been chomping at the bit to collaborate with them for a long time. The goal was to create a slightly more structured, more formidable collection that felt at home in the Stone Fox Bride showroom, but also starkly different that anything we had ever carried before. The response to the collection has been mind-blowing!"

Not surprisingly, Guy prefers not to follow the trends.
"I gravitate towards gowns that are chic and timeless without being constraining or stuffy," Guy says. "I love soft Chantilly laces, sleeves, low backs and long hemlines. Versatile, second-skin dresses that can be worn black-tie style, with silver Louboutins and loose hair, or barefoot on the beach with a soft bouquet of roses and ranunculus, and a wind-swept side braid."

Stone Fox Bride's amazing Instagram feed was something that happened organically.
When asked about Stone Fox Bride's popular engagement ring Instagram posts, Guy explains, "I love stories — whether it's about a ring, a cat, a hat — I always just want to know the narrative behind an accessory that people wear everyday, and are fiercely loyal to. I always asked my friends the stories behind their rings — and when Instagram launched I just starting posting them! I had no idea anyone else would care but me."

Her top three style tips for brides boil down to just being yourself.
"Look as much as like yourself as possible," say the creative director. "Most likely your partner fell in love with you when your face was bare of makeup and you were super present and un-self-aware. The goal is to be the most radiant, healthy, happy version of the person you look like everyday. Don't follow trends, your mother-in-law suggestions, or what your friends think is cool. Listen to your own voice. And remember to eat breakfast, have a little exercise and meditation and some solo time the morning before your wedding. You want to be able to weather the adventure you're about to embark on from a place of serenity and grace."

Jennifer Lawrence Jokes That She's Been Engaged "5 or 6 Times"

In between her high-profile relationships with actor Nicholas Hoult and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, you may think Jennifer Lawrence has been engaged at least at some point. And though you'd be mistaken, you wouldn't necessarily be wrong for assuming it.

While promoting her upcoming film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 with costars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, MTV UK asked the trio to share the most ridiculous rumors they'd read about themselves. Lawrence's response, of course, was hilarious and all too real.

"I've been engaged 5 or 6 times ... I don't know how many times I've been pregnant ... I've been pregnant more times than I can count," she recounted, much to the mock surprise of Hutcherson.

Her incredulity means one of two things: Either she has been engaged and she wants to keep it a secret, or she has not, in fact, ever been betrothed, or anywhere close to it.

Whatever the truth is, we've got news for you, J. Law — you'll probably face the same rumors with the next guy you date! (The Daily Star reports the actress may be rekindling her romance with Hoult. The pair started dating in 2011 and called it quits earlier this year.)

Whenever she does get married, we're just excited to see how her wedding dress compares to the rest of her amazing red-carpet wardrobe (and her Hunger Games: Catching Fire bridal gown). Dior, anyone?

No Children Allowed: The Pros and Cons of an Adult-Only Wedding

No Children Allowed Wedding

Photo: Audrey Hannah Photo

It might be spurred by budget constraints or you and your mate may simply prefer the company of grown ups. There's a host of reasons why you might want to designate your reception "adults only." If you're thinking about it, consider these pros and cons:

Pros
It can save you a little money.
Caterers usually charge per head, and even though you may be able to get a reduced cost for a littler head, it still might be more than your budget can bear. Eliminating children can significantly reduce the guest list, especially when budget or space is of concern.

Your guests will likely feel more relaxed.
This can be especially true for your guests who are parents. Kids are their own kind of fun, but it's definitely a lot harder to cut loose when you're keeping an eye on the wee ones.

See more: 4 Ways to Involve Kids in the Wedding

Cons
You will offend someone.
Someone, somehow will take umbrage with your decision, wondering how you could possibly not enjoy the company of his or her little angel. You know that the decision to restrict your list to adults isn't personal, but, inevitably, it will feel like that to someone.

Some guests won't be able to come.
Arranging for childcare isn't always easy — particularly if it requires covering an entire weekend for guests who'll need to travel to your ceremony. If they can even get a sitter for that long, it might be prohibitively expensive. (Though not if you arrange for a sitter for the wedding night.)

Bonding over a shared love of football is one thing, but actually tying the knot while your two rival teams play is something entirely different. For Stephen Phifer and Erin Guruli, coordinating their wedding date with this year's football schedule seemed only natural considering their romance flourished while "smack talking" anytime her team, the Saints, played his team, the 49ers.

Last Sunday, the engaged duo finally had the opportunity to exchange vows in a very meaningful place for them — the New Orleans Superdome — when their rival teams took to the field. According to Nola.com, Phifer and Guruli were married during the second quarter and their nuptials mark the first time a wedding was ever held in the stands during a game.

"We were trying to figure out what kind of wedding we would have," Guruli told Nola. "Most of our families are in Washington, D.C., area. We did away with the traditional style wedding based on [my mom telling us to], 'do something that would be fun for you.'"

See More: Watch the Video: A Couple Weds Aboard a Southwest Airlines Flight at 32,000 Feet!

According to Guruli, planning a wedding at the Superdome was much easier than she expected. After hiring an officiant and photographer, she checked with the Saints staff to ensure they wouldn't run into any big-day problems. The Saints's digital media team were so impressed by the idea that they filmed a video for the couple!

And even though they were dressed in a wedding gown and tux for their nuptials, these two were stilled decked out in their respective team's colors: Guruli paired her white mermaid wedding dress with a black-and-gold bouquet, while Phifer sported a 49ers bow tie and hat.

"It was fun, and we had a great time," Guruli said of her big day. "Everyone sitting in our section turned around. They knew something was going on ... People were hooting and hollering. It was really fun and representative of us and our relationship."

As for the game, the 49ers ultimately beat the Saints in overtime, but we'd bet both the bride and groom consider the day a win.

The Traditional Breakdown of Whose Family Pays for What

$
0
0

The line of who pays for what for weddings these days is definitely blurred. But, if you or your parents want to stick to tradition (or just want to know the way it used to go for reference) there are very strict delineations for who should pay for what. Here, our etiquette experts outline exactly who should front what bill, according to age old customs. Please keep in mind, though, that this all depends on your particular financial and family situation.

Traditionally, the bride's family foots majority of the bill. Of course, this rarely applies these days, but it's interesting to note all of the costs that the bride and her family were once held responsible for. They include obvious things like the wedding dress and accessories and the bride's gifts to her bridesmaid and groom. A lot of big ticket items fall on that list too like the wedding planner or coordinator, invitations and all its corresponding stationery, majority of the flowers, total reception costs, all photography and videography expenses, the groom's wedding ring, music for the church and the reception, any rentals, the bridesmaid's luncheon, accommodation for all bridesmaids, and, lastly, all transportation needed for the big day.

See more: Wedding Planning Basics: À la Carte vs. Package Deals

As for the groom and his family's traditional expenses, they're a bit less of a burden. Costs include the bride's engagement ring and wedding rings, the groom's attire, the groom's gift to his groomsmen and if wants their attire too, his gift to the bride, all of the boutonnieres and corsages for appropriate wedding party and family members, the officiant's fee plus accommodation and transportation if they need to travel to the wedding, the marriage license, rehearsal dinner costs, lodging for the groomsmen, and transportation and lodging for the groom's family and groomsmen.

2. Shine bright
Sparklers have become more and more common in weddings recently, and for good reason. You can purchase large amounts en masse relatively affordably, and they look so pretty and festive! Bride Tashina Cooper's photo shows how sparklers can create an eye-catching tunnel of romance when guests hold them up as the bride and groom leave.

3. Grab the streamers
Not a fan of pyrotechnics? No problem! Bride Shannon Inouye shared this sweet photo of her and her groom ending their big day with a classic car getaway after their friends and family waved them off with streamers. The best part of this exit plan is that you can keep a streamer, just like she did.

Best Celebrity Beauty Looks Jessica, Lupita, Jennifer Lawrence

Lupita Nyong'o makes shimmer look sophisticated, Jennifer Lawrence brings back the headband, and Jessica Chastain perfects the black-tie beach wave. Here, the red-carpet beauty looks we loved this week.

Jessica Chastain at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Governors Awards: So many celebs are going for pearlescent eye shadow, and we love it for bridal. It makes your eyes stand out, but is soft enough to wear with bright red lipstick. To give her overall look an air of effortlessness, she refrained from perfectly coiled curls and went for a loose, wavy hairstyle — so French girl chic, non?

Lupita Nyong'o at the Glamour 2014 Women of the Year Awards: Metallic eyes, shimmery cheeks, and deep red lips work so well together if you do it right. Luckily, we have the scoop on what makeup artist Nick Barose used to create Lupita's look: Lancôme's Color Design 5-Pan Eye Shadow Palette in Kissed by Gold and Le Lipstique Lip Pencil in Sheer Chocolate with L'Absolu Rouge Lip Color in Jezebel. The result? An illuminating look with hits of muted color.

Jennifer Lawrence at the World Premiere of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1: J. Law's updo is a great option for brides with short hair. Her cropped locks are twisted into a little chignon at the nape of her neck, and a black elastic headband is cleverly used to add volume at the top and keep stray hairs from falling out of place. Soft black eyeliner, rosy cheeks, and pink lips add a touch of sixties inspiration — hitting just the right note between modern and retro.

Picking a dress that all of your 'maids will love, looks flattering on an array of body shapes and skin tones, and fits with your wedding aesthetic is a uniquely challenging experience that almost every bride will face. In fact, some brides even say finding a dress that's the perfect fit for all of their attendants is harder than finding their own dress for the big day. Luckily, there's one hue that's making a big splash in the world of bridesmaid dresses, and it's sure to please each and every one of your girls: lavender.

We know what you're thinking, winter brides: "My bridesmaids can't possible wear that pastel to my cold-weather nuptials." But with lavender available in a wide array of shades (everything from grey-toned violets, perfect for a winter wedding, to pink-toned shades ideal for warmer weather ceremonies), you'd be surprised at just how incredible the color is any time of year.

Plus, it's a great choice for just about every skin tone since the color can be warmer or cooler depending on fabrication. If your 'maids need something to warm up fair skin, try a softer fabric like chiffon, while tanner attendants should look at something in the silk or satin family.

Could Neil Patrick Harris and husband David Burtka be any cuter? The newlyweds, who tied the knot in Italy this past September, are the new adorable faces of London Fog's Holiday 2014 ad campaign.

"This is our first fashion campaign together," said Harris and by the looks of it, it probably won't be their last. Burtka chimed in, "We're wearing London Fog duds and we look good...ish. We look goodish."

Burtka and Harris look particularly handsome in the black-and-white photo that will serve as the billboard shot of the campaign (shown above). Not only are they showing off London Fog's classic trench, we can see some other important accessories — their wedding bands!

Harris is likely pretty comfortable in front of the camera (he was Doogie Howser M.D. before his turn on How I Met Your Mother), but we'd say fellow actor and chef Burtka gave him a run for his money!
