Meet the Parents: How to Introduce Your Folks If They're Divorced

Divorced Parents Post Engagement

Photo: Getty Images

If it didn't happen before you got engaged, having both the bride and groom's parents meet before the wedding is an absolute must. The one thing that can throw a wrench in the whole gathering? If one set (or both sets) of parents is divorced. Whether it was a contentious split or not, our etiquette experts are here to help arrange appropriate introductions between both moms, dads, and even step parents.

Wedding tradition calls for the groom's parents to reach out to the bride's mother and father post-engagement if they had not yet met. So, if the bride's parents are no longer married, the groom's parents should make a call to both her mom and dad, separately. First, they should contact the parent the bride is closest to or lived with while growing up. And, logically, this means that they'll also arrange separate get togethers with the separated mother and father, plus, if it's called for, their current spouses.

If the groom's parents are divorced the bride's mom and dad do the same: they reach out to each parents separately and arrange individual intros.

See more: How Can I Seat My Remarried Parents At My Wedding So That Everyone Feels Equally Important?

Most complicated is, of course, if both sets of the betrothed's parents are divorced. When this happens custom calls for the groom's parent that feels most motivated to meet up with the others initiate making plans, with the help of his or her son and future daughter-in-law. This situation though, is of course the trickiest, and the engaged couple may need to step in to make communication and meet-ups happen. All of this goes without saying that the soon-to-be married couple should do their best to make both parents feel comfortable — as much as you want to share this process with your loves ones, you shouldn't force anyone into a social situation they don't want to be in.

Solange Knowles's Pre Wedding Festitivies in New Orleans

A night at the movies has never looked so good! Solange Knowles slipped into a number fit for a bride-to-be to watch a film at Indywood Cinema Theatre in New Orleans with her fiancé Alan Ferguson on Friday night.

The couple didn't spend the moment alone as sister Beyoncé and about 50 other family members and friends joined the engaged duo ahead of their wedding, which takes place today, according to People.

The "Losing You" songstress showed off her killer style in a bell-sleeve LWD with a plunging neckline and leg-baring front slit, accented with her signature voluminous afro, red lips, a Kate Spade birdcage bag, and metallic ankle-strap sandals. Beyoncé was in attendance without makeup (and without her husband Jay Z and daughter Blue Ivy) sporting a long navy fur gilet and her favorite Topshop pumps.

Though Knowles and Ferguson are keeping all of their wedding plans private, Indywood posted on Facebook that the couple's movie of choice was none other than the 1975 classic Mahogany starring Diana Ross. The choice couldn't have been more fitting as it was the movie the twosome saw on their first date. Plus, Knowles frequently names Ross as one of her inspirations.

"Solange is getting married to a wonderful man on Sunday and they rented out the theater for a pre-wedding party," said the theatre's post. "It was beautiful, they were beautiful, Diana Ross is beautiful, love is beautiful."

Of the night, one of the film house's owners Haley Sampson told People, "It was pretty adorable. They were talking about how they met and that they bonded [over] this film and then showed everybody the movie." Naturally, it wasn't a regular movie night as there were daiquiris on-hand from local sandwich shop Gene's Po Boys and even more drinks from Oxalis.

We cannot wait to see these two tie the knot! Stay tuned for more wedding details.

Do You Need a Wedding-Day Fashion Stylist?

It's no secret that her wedding day is a major fashion moment in the life of a bride. All eyes are on her from the moment she walks down the aisle to the very last dance. To help brides look their absolute best throughout the day, some vendors are now offering day-of fashion styling services. But what exactly does a stylist do and what kind of bride could most benefit from hiring one? We talked to bridal stylist Jacqueline Weppner, founder and creative director of Merci New York, to find out.

"A day-of stylist combines the services of a traditional stylist and a dresser," explains Weppner. "She is there to help you and your 'maids get ready — steam gowns, pin, sew, tape, bustle, remove stains, hem — whatever it is that you may need during the day. But the stylist also has a fashion background, so the other half of her job is to help you style your wedding-day shoots — whether that means prop styling your jewelry and shoes for your photographer or staging portraits."

See more: 14 Miracle Products That Can Save You From a Beauty Emergency on Your Wedding Day

So what type of bride is the best candidate for such a service? "Brides who have a complicated dress or a big bridal party could obviously benefit, since there's just a lot more going on in terms of fashion," Weppner says. "But having a stylist on hand is also really helpful for someone who are not using a planner. For example, if the logistics of her big day are being taken care of by the venue, the bride might not need another coordinator, but could use someone who is solely responsible for taking care of her, making sure all the details are accounted for, and provide that extra peace of mind that a fashion emergency is not going to impact her big day."

A Quick Guide to Tipping Your Wedding Vendors

Tipping your wedding vendors is never mandatory — tips are supposed to be expressions of thanks for especially good service. That being said, unless the service was absolutely terrible, you wouldn't leave a restaurant without tipping, right? The same applies to weddings: It is customary to show your appreciation by tipping many of the people involved in making yours a success. But before you start doling out the cash, be sure to carefully check all of your vendor contracts to see if gratuity charges are already included in your fee; if so, then you shouldn't feel obligated to add anything onto that. Also, your cake baker, stationer, and florist — basically, any wedding vendor who's self-employed or is the owner of a business — will not be expecting tips. For the rest of your wedding pros, here is our handy tipping guide.

See More: Vendor Etiquette 101: Tipping, Feeding, and Dealing with Difficult Vendors

CEREMONY
Hair/makeup pros: 15 to 20 percent of the total bill
Musicians: $25 to $50 each
Officiant: $50 if you're married by a judge or clerk; clergy members, in general, don't accept tips, so instead, make a donation ($100 on average) to the appropriate house of worship.

RECEPTION
Wedding planners: $0; however, their more junior staffers should be tipped $50 to $100 each.
Photographers/videographers: $100 to $200 if the pro is part of a larger outfit or agency (but not the owner). Second shooters should receive $50 to $75.
Catering manager: $250 to $500
Waitstaff: 15 percent of the total pre-tax food bill, which should be given to the catering manager or "captain" to distribute.
Bartenders: 10 to 15 percent of the total pre-tax bar bill, which should be split among the bartenders. Inform the bartenders of your intent to tip after the reception, and request that they refuse tips from guests.
Reception band/DJ: $25 to $50 per person
Chauffeur/driver: 15 to 20 percent of the total bill, which is typically presented at the end of the day.
Valets: $1 to $2 per car, given to the supervisor in advance, to be split among staff. Display a sign at the valet station stating that gratuities have been taken care of. The valets should also be instructed to refuse any tips offered by guests.
Restroom/coat-check attendants: $.50 to $2 per guest; calculate this total in advance and give to your reception site manager to distribute.

SETUP/BREAKDOWN
Delivery people: $5 to $20 per person for deliveries arriving from your florist, baker, rental company, and other vendors. These staffers may also be doing the heavy lifting, on-site setup, and hauling away that come with producing your wedding — so tip accordingly.

You'll Never Guess Which Bachelorette Alum Just Got Engaged!

Bachelorette and Bachelor Pad alum Kasey Kahl has finally found someone whose heart he can guard and protect! Kahl, who vied for Ali Fedotowsky's heart on season six of The Bachelorette in 2010 before going on to compete in Bachelor Pad with fellow franchise alumna and ex-girlfriend Vienna Girardi, got engaged to his girlfriend, Amanda Waters, over the weekend!

Kahl made a name for himself during his time on the ABC reality show for constantly promising to "guard and protect" Fedotowsky's heart, getting a spontaneous six-inch tattoo, and awkwardly serenading her with a guitar during a one-on-one date. Though she eliminated him, he found love soon after the show with Girardi, Fedotowsky's nemesis from Jake Pavelka's season of The Bachelor. The duo were theatric contestants on Bachelor Pad before breaking up, but it looks like his dramatic days are over.

Just after he popped the question, Kahl shared an Instagram with the caption, "Took me 5 months to plan, coordinate, and hide this special moment for @amandaleewaters and was worth every second of stress I endured to experience what it felt like unfolding perfectly. Thanks again to everyone who was apart of it."

Meanwhile, his cousin shared a photo, above, showing the happy couple just after the big moment, which looks like it took place during a work conference. Luckily for us, Kahl posted a picture of the square-cut diamond engagement ring to Instagram. We're sure he has many more happy songs to sing now that he's found the one!

A Sweet Summer Wedding Nestled in the Mountains of Aspen

Mountain-top Wedding Ceremony in Aspen

Brooke Carroll calls her first meeting with Ryan Raybould a "chance encounter." "I was visiting a business school in Dallas, and was going to Starbucks to study for the GMATs between visits," she remembers. "The only open seat was next to his, and we started talking before I could even open my book." What followed was a whirlwind long-distance love affair, with Brooke in California and Ryan in Texas until his job and her acceptance to Georgetown brought them both to D.C. A month or so later, Brooke was in Aspen visiting her parents and was surprised with flowers, love letters, and a video about her relationship with Ryan. "As soon as the video ended, I heard a knock on the door, and there he was," Brooke says.

The couple wanted to wed before Brooke started her MBA, which gave them just six short months to plan the wedding of their dreams on July 19th, 2014 in Aspen. So they got to work, hiring Kate Ryan of Gold Leaf Event Design to pull together all of Brooke's ideas, and Kate Holstein to capture them all in gorgeous pictures.

The neutral-toned invitations featured a mix of fonts, as well as an invitation to the couple's barbecue rehearsal dinner.

When she started dress-shopping, Brooke was sure that she didn't want lace. She even had it narrowed down to two silk gowns when her sister asked her to try on a Monique Lhuillier gown. "Everyone gasped when I walked out of the fitting room," she says. The winning gown? A re-embroidered lace mermaid with buttons down the back.

The bride and her bridesmaids carried a mix of blush, coral, and yellow roses, ranunculus, hydrangea, and eucalyptus leaves.

Ryan looked dapper in a textured navy Hugo Boss tuxedo with satin trim.

The ceremony took place in front of a stunning mountain backdrop. The aisle, covered in white, yellow, and peach rose petals, led to an arbor decorated with white fabric and lush roses and greenery. As guests arrived, they were offered paper parasols to protect them from the sun.

Brooke and Ryan's ceremony was officiated by the judge Ryan was clerking for when the couple first met.

Guests found their table assignments tucked into custom pockets made from different styles of lace. The tented reception featured a combination of long wooden tables and round tables topped with lace linens.

Chandeliers lit the tables, topped with soft pink and ivory hues. Centerpieces included garden roses, ranunculus, hydrangea, dahlias, and silver dollar eucalyptus leaves for a pop of green. Tables were named after the bride and groom's favorite runs on Snowmass Mountain.

For dinner, they dined on a duet of salmon and short ribs (the groom's favorite!) and sipped on the Aspen Kiss, a rum, lime, agave, and mint concoction designed by the bride.

Wedding Cake with Fresh Roses

Dinner was capped off with a four-tiered wedding cake decorated with fresh flowers and fondant lace appliques. "We had to have two flavors, because I love vanilla and Ryan's more of a chocolate guy," says Brooke. The options? Chocolate cake with crunchy praline buttercream and salted caramel or old-fashioned sour cream cake with cream cheese frosting.

After the bride and groom had their first dance to "Latch" by Stan Smith, guests flooded the dance floor as the DJ mixed dance hits with country favorites. "The dance party was awesome!" Brooke says. After their honeymoon to Kauai, Brooke and Ryan returned to D.C. — where they found out they're expecting! "We couldn't be happier!"

Benedict Cumberbatch and His Fiancée Make Their Red Carpet Debut (Plus, Get the Details on Her Engagement Ring!)

When it comes to celebrity engagements, the announcement is usually (and quickly) heard round the world via paparazzi shots, social media, and speculative interviews. But when it came time for Benedict Cumberbatch to pop the question, he kept it old school, announcing his forthcoming wedding in British newspaper The Times.

Keeping with the long-used custom of putting it in print, Cumberbatch and his bride-to-be have relatively remained mute (aside from a brief message on Twitterr) about their engagement — and Hunter's sure-to-be gorgeous ring. Well, thanks to The Imitation Game's premiere in New York City last night, these two stepped out onto the red carpet together for the first time since Hunter said yes, and, lucky for us, she was wearing her engagement ring!

See more: Our Favorite Celebrity Engagement Rings

According to the snap on Us Weekly, Cumberbatch stuck to a tried-and-true favorite: a pav&3233; halo setting. The ring shape looks to be cushion, while the diamond center stone could either be cushion-cut or round-cut. Regardless, Hunter's ring finger is loaded with bling — the dusting of pavé diamonds is not only found on the halo but all along the ring's band too!

When Us Weekly asked the rising star how it feels to break millions of Sherlock fan's hearts, he answered in the cutest way possible: "Fine, in the sense that I've made one person's heart — the most important person in my life — very happy," he coolly finished.

Well in that case then, we're happy this British heartthrob has found his one true love — and a perfect ring to mark the occasion!

How to Choose Your Witnesses for a City Hall Ceremony (without Offending Anyone)

Inviting Guests To City Hall Wedding

Photo: Shawn Connell and Jack Jeffries of Christian Oth Studio

The great thing about city hall weddings is that it's a truly personal affair — it just you and your fiancé, plus one or two witnesses. There are little to no distractions and it's less stressful compared to planning a traditional wedding. But with family and friends hoping (and probably already thinking) that you will choose them as a witness of your vows, it may be difficult to decide who will actually accompany you on your big day.

I'm getting married at city hall and can only have two witnesses. How do we fairly decide who should come?

There is no right or wrong way to pick your wedding witnesses. Try writing the first five names that come to mind, and ask your fiancé to do the same. Then out of those names, have a talk with your future hubby about which two people have been the most supportive of your relationship.

Don't worry about hurting someone's feelings by not asking them to be there. People understand that city hall weddings are small. Plus, you can ask your witnesses to take pictures or to record the ceremony (which usually lasts around 30 minutes). That way the people you couldn't invite can still see the whole thing after it's over! Also, you can always throw a dinner or host a small reception afterwards. Although they won't be there to witness the "I dos," your loved ones will still be able to celebrate your marriage.

Groom Style Tips by Wedding Style

Photo: Lilian Haidar

All eyes will be on the bride as she walks down the aisle, except for one pair: Yours! You'll be looking squarely at the groom, and wouldn't it be nice to see your man looking his very best, too? When it comes to his big-day fashion, don't let your groom walk the aisle in that tired work suit. Whatever your wedding style, there's a dapper look for your husband-to-be that goes perfectly with your wedding dress.

For a Beach Wedding
A pale linen suit will make your groom disappear into the sand. Steer him towards deep blue, which references the water and will pop in pictures. Look for a graphic striped shirt to wear with it, and pick a tie in a solid or muted print. Add a pair of breathable shoes, a playful set off cufflinks, and a classic black belt to pull the entire look together.

For a Garden Party Wedding
A breezy linen suit will keep him cool in the summertime. But cut is key, says stylist Joseph Episcopo: It should skim his body without pulling or bagging. Go for deep khaki paired with a pink or lilac shirt — both shades are surprising flattering on most guys. To keep him comfy in the sun, gift him a great pair of sunglasses or a classic fedora.

For a Modern Loft Wedding
Since Brad Pitt and Jay Z rocked them on the red carpets this year, white jackets have been, well, white-hot. Nail the look by sticking with a one-or-two-button version in matte wool or cotton; avoid shiny fabrics like rayon. Elevate the look even more with trendy black shoes and a sleek watch.

For a Black Tie Wedding
What guy doesn't look elegant in a tux? For the ultimate black-tie vibe, go for midnight blue — it's richer than black — with of-the-moment peaked lapels and a two-button closure. In the winter, try wool or cashmere, and in summer, a breathable wool-cotton-blend is the perfect pick. To give him that James Bond-vibe, add a classic watch, chic cufflinks, and traditional black shoes.

The 5 Most Common Wedding DIY Mishaps

Common DIY Wedding Mistakes

Photo: Getty Images

Do-It-Yourself wedding planning has become the hottest trend around, but it's not without its potential problems and cake-tastrophies. Here are five common mistakes DIYers encounter.

1. Making your own wedding cake.
The best cakes are finished within 24 hours of the wedding. The bride is going to be busy then.

2. Not hiring a professional DJ to run your music.
Even though it's your favorite list of songs, you don't know when people will be up and dancing and when it's more appropriate to play a slow ballad. Nothing kills a party faster than switching to slow music when the dance floor is full.

3. Thinking you can do a better job on your own hair and makeup than a professional.
It doesn't matter how talented you are, on your wedding day, you'll struggle. If you have a friend who is a professional who will commit, that's fine. But otherwise, talk to a salon.

4. Planning to make your own wedding bouquets.
Unless you're using silk flowers and can make the bouquets a month ahead, don't plan to have time to make your bouquets the day before or the day of your wedding when you have actual events.

5. Thinking you can run things on the wedding day.
Though it's not a DIY project, many brides think they can be their own DIY wedding coordinator — but it's not a good idea. The bride needs to be the "guest of honor" rather than the hostess on her wedding day. Somebody else needs to tell everybody when to walk down the aisle and prompt the DJ when it's time for special events.

Owner of Weddings in Vieques, a destination-wedding planning company off the coast of Puerto Rico, Sandy Malone has helped countless couples plan their big day since 2007.

No, You Cannot Wear That on Your Wedding Day!

Dumb and Dumber Wedding Attire

Raquel Kelley, E! Fashion Police producer and the creative force behind the wedding blog, I Guess I Do, is revealing the three things a groom should never wear on his big day.

I believe it is very important to have your husband-to-be involved the wedding-planning process and his input heard. But there are instances where they may benefit from listening to us when it comes to certain areas of expertise. Case in point: fashion. Here are three style don'ts for your man on the big day. That way, your guests aren't whispering "Oh, no he didn't!" as he walks down the aisle.

1. Don't Pull Out the High School Suit
You can't blame him for wanting to save money. After seeing the cost of venues and flowers, it is only natural to try and save a buck. But trying to resurrect his old suit from senior year isn't the way to do it. As we all know, "If it doesn't fit—you must acquit." So, leave the snug suit where it belongs ... in the past. Opt for a rental, or purchase a new suit that is tailored to look best in pictures that will last a lifetime.

2. Don't Neglect the Hair
If your husband is anything like mine, a $10 haircut by any random person is the way to go. But without fail, every time he comes back from a fresh cut, he looks like his fourth grade yearbook photo. The week of the wedding is not the time get any experimental cuts, seven days does not leave much time for it to grow back. Minus shaving one's head, there are certain situations where some things cannot be fixed. So while your husband's haircut may not be very high on your list of priorities, make sure to schedule it for when you like it best, that could be three weeks before you wed. That way everyone's hair will be looking beautiful on the big day ... not butchered.

3. Don't Forget It's Your Wedding Day, Not Halloween
One of my friends is dead set on having his groomsman dress up as ninjas at his wedding some day. (God bless his future wife's soul.) Now if you are having a themed wedding, this rule does not apply to you. But if your husband is trying to show his funny side, you should allow him to do so, but at the appropriate time — the reception. At your ceremony, you and all of your guests should be focused on what's important — the vows, not your husband's wardrobe choice.

Are Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden in the Midst of Planning a Wedding?

Are Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden Engaged

Photo: Getty Images

Rumors of Cameron Diaz's engagement to Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden have been swirling since July, and then the wedding whispers began running rampant in October. While the couple hasn't formally confirmed or denied their engagement, one shiny piece of bling on the actress's fourth finger is certainly saying a lot.

According to The Mirror, the happy couple is most certainly engaged. "The pair decided to take things to the next level and Madden popped the question with a diamond-encrusted ring," a source reportedly told Australia's Daily Telegraph.

See More: Which Celebrity Couple is Getting Married Next?

While Diaz has been spotted several times wearing a statement-making gold-and-diamond bauble on a very specific finger, there have also been multiple occasions where she's stepped out sans the alleged engagement ring. The same of jewelry has also appeared on her right hand rather than her left before.

Without confirmation from their reps (or a close-up shot of that ring!) it's hard to say exactly what is going on with these two. But the one thing we know for sure? Their relatively short relationship (the pair has only been together since April) is built on a strong foundation. And marriage definitely isn't out of the question, either. In September Madden told Details that a family is "what every man wants, whether they admit it or not."

Whether or not they're actually engaged, we're holding out hope that these two are making plans to settle down for good!

Yes, we all know the perfect marriage doesn't exist outside the movies, but maybe you're not aware of some of the wackier things that happen after the wedding day. If that's the case, we're here — with the help of real married women — to dish on the silly things they've done since they said, "I do."

1. "My husband locks the door when he goes to the bathroom," says a bride who's been married for four years. "He's terrified that I'll walk in on him one day when he's going number two! I just think it's hysterical that after four years married and two years of dating — during which I've never so much as knocked on the door when he's been in there — that he's still convinced I'll see him in that position and never look at him the same way again!"

2. "I still hide my 'period' underwear from my husband," another married gal says. "Yes, I know he knows I have a period. Yes, I understand he understands the concept of spotting. But we've only been married a year, and I'm not ready to show him that I'm not wearing sexy underthings 24/7!"

3. "We have pet names we use with just each other, and then a different set of pet names that we use when we're around other people," says a newly-married woman. "When we're around our friends, we stick with 'baby' and 'honey,' but when it's just me and him, I'll call him 'hot stuff' and he calls me 'snookums!'"

4. "I need a lot more 'me' time than I thought I would before we got married," explains a wife of three years. "So I take a lot of frequent, completely unnecessary trips to the grocery store and mall, where I'll buy one thing and then use the rest of the time I'm 'shopping' to go to the park and just read or relax. I think my husband thinks I have a shopping addiction!"

Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross Married Life

Evan Ross and Ashlee Simpson have been married just shy of three months, but they're still very much in the honeymoon phase!

Though Evan walked the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 with his wife last night, he admitted to missing her the second he had to step away for an interview. "It's the best thing ever. I actually want to get back to her, although I'm excited to be on the carpet — it's incredible," he told Us Weekly of their joint appearance. "I wish she didn't leave but there's a lot going on here."

The evening was a family affair for Evan and Ashlee, who were accompanied by his mother, legendary diva Diana Ross and his half-sisters Chudney and Tracee Ellis, among others. For Evan, who plays Messalla in the wildly popular trilogy, Ashlee fits right into that close-knit unit. "I've been with her now for a while so it just feels right," he stated. "I'm happy to say she's my wife."

In fact, if he has his way, they'll add to their family tree in a big way! Though Ashlee is already mom to five-year-old son Bronx, "I would love to [have kids]," Evan told Us, before quickly adding, "As many as possible."

We have a feeling that grandma Diana, who hosted the couple at her Connecticut estate for their August wedding, where she also sang for them, would be more than thrilled about that coming true!

The Newlywed's Guide to Splitting the Holidays

In perfect world, you'd never have to spend a holiday without your family, and no one would have to make a choice between who will visit whom this Thanksgiving, who'll get to see you unwrap Christmas presents in person or who will break the fast with you after Yom Kippur. But the reality is, once you're married, you and your husband may have to choose — his family or yours.

Typically, couples wait to make this choice until they're prompted by relatives with an invitation to join a holiday celebration. "Your company will be vied for at best and fought for at worst," warns relationship expert April Masini. So, instead, "make a pre-emptive strike by discussing your holiday plans months before the holidays. This gives you the time and privacy to discuss the options you have in a series of talks with time to consider in between."

Scan the calendar and mark the dates that you would like to celebrate, from holidays to anniversaries, housewarming parties and that St. Patrick's Day shindig you've been dying to throw. "Before you know it, you'll have plenty of holidays to share with your families," Masini says, which means each family member will individually feel less left out.

You can also create a website (or Google Doc), where you can post the events you'd like to share with family. "It will keep everyone in communication," Masini says. "You'll find that the fighting comes from fear of not seeing you, and this extended family calendar allows everyone to make plans together, which alleviates a lot of anxiety and family fighting over holidays."

And if you find you and your spouse can't agree on whom to invite or where to go on a particular holiday or celebration, consider this advice: "Don't be rigid. Don't think short term. And don't be stingy," Masini says. "And if you still can't agree, the nuclear option is that the two of you go away together and reconvene with family next year, giving you an entire 365 days to figure out what to do next time the holidays are on your plate."

If you've decided to write your own vows (P.S. We love this idea!), then it's a good idea to come up with a creative and meaningful way to hold and display your heartfelt wedding-day sentiments. (A crumpled-up sheet of notebook paper is not gonna cut it!) Here are some of our favorite ideas:

Vows Journals (above): Pen your vows in these keepsake letterpress journals from BHLDN—they're small enough to fit in your groom's pocket or your wedding-day clutch.

Framed Vows: Handwrite your wedding-day sentiments on paper then place them in simple frames; read from them aloud during the ceremony, then display the frames later at the reception.

Vows Folder with Hankie: If you're up for a DIY project, print your vows and glue them in a simple fabric-covered folder; then, attach a just-in-case handkerchief to the other side.

Tied to Your Wedding Rings: Another idea is to handwrite your vows on small cards, then tie your wedding bands to the side. Right before the ceremony is about to begin, give the cards to your maid of honor and best man to hold until it's time to exchange vows.

Vows and Rings Box: This clever keepsake box is designed to look like a vintage hardcover book but is actually a special place to keep your wedding vows. On the other side is a jewelry compartment for your wedding rings.

On a Tiny Sheet of Paper: For something unexpected, carefully write your vows on a tiny, extra-long sheet of paper and slowly unravel the spool as you read the words aloud.

Wedding Vows Poster: Turn your wedding vows into a work of art. This Etsy shop will create a poster from your vows; display it at the altar during the ceremony, then frame and hang it in your living room as a one-of-a-kind wedding keepsake.

Personalized Vows Notebooks: Here are several takes on the personalized vows booklette: Purchase a pair of "His" and "Hers" pocket-size notebooks from this Etsy shop, like this bride did. You could also personalize (or DIY them) with your names. And, while you're at it, pen a message to your soon-to-be spouse on the back of each sheet for a sweet surprise (his says "You look stunning!").
