Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are still basking in the glow of newlywed bliss ... and the Malta sun! After finally tying the knot late last month, the new Mr. and Mrs. Pitt have kept themselves busy with a family-oriented honeymoon on the southern European island and a hectic work schedule.

The pair has been spotted enjoying the sun and sea, along with their children, Maddox, 13, Pax, 10, Zahara, 9, Shiloh, 8, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 6, in between filming their upcoming movie By the Sea. Most recently, the Jolie-Pitt family went on a group boat trip, according to the Daily Mail.

"We are working together on a drama about grief and finding a way through a difficult marriage," Jolie told People earlier this month. "We find it very funny that it's our honeymoon."

In an effort to enjoy some private time on their much deserved working-moon, the pair reportedly rented out 12 villas around Mgarr ix-Xini Bay.

While it's certainly anything but a traditional honeymoon, their family-friendly vacation is fitting for the private couple, especially considering what an active role their children played in their wedding day.

The question is now whether or not the newlyweds will make their way to Italy for George Clooney's upcoming nuptials? After all, Pitt's former best friend didn't receive an invite to their super-small wedding ceremony, so we'll be anxious to see if Clooney extends an invitation to his own wedding.

Everything You Need to Know About Selecting Ceremony Music

$
0
0

While you might think this would ring true for the reception, music is an integral part of any wedding ceremony. The processional sets the tone for the whole traditional proceeding, while the recessional may as well set the tone for your entire marriage! If you're stuck on what songs to choose, consult our ceremony music etiquette guide: From who exactly picks what, to how to handle a contemporary choice in a religious venue, here's everything you need to know about your ceremony music.

Processional music is often chosen by the bride: As for the all-important processional, it's the bride's choice which music she enters the ceremony to. For the recessional, she and her future husband can decide together.

If you're getting married in a synagogue or church, there may be restrictions on what music you can choose: Be sure to check with your religious leader before finalizing song selections for your ceremony — certain hymns may already be in place for a traditional wedding ceremony, while, on the other hand, some songs may be deemed inappropriate for the occasion, especially if you're ceremony will be held in a church or synoguage. Also consult your minister or rabbi if you'd like the choir to sing, and, again, just double-check with what they're going to sing since they may be limited in what they're allowed to perform.

For a civil ceremony, choose whatever music or readings you'd like: Just because you're having a civil ceremony doesn't mean you can't have someone read your favorite passage from the bible, or sing your song to honor the occasion. Again, like any ceremony, just be sure to talk to your officiant before finalizing anything.

Why Did Whitney Port Miss Lauren Conrad's Wedding?

We all were hoping for a reunion of The Hills cast members at Lauren Conrad's wedding, but unfortunately that did not happen. Conrad's former co-star on the hit reality TV show Whitney Port missed Conrad's big day, as she was in New York City.

"I wasn't able to make it, I was here," Port told People at a LinkedIn Build Your Professional Brand event in the Big Apple earlier this week.

As the two both got their starts in fashion during their internships at Teen Vogue, naturally Conrad's big-day look was brought up. "She's very confident in her own style, as she should be," Port said of Conrad, knowing that her friend looked beautiful on her wedding day in despite of not seeing any pictures or knowing what she wore.

Port is in the midst of planning her own nuptials to Tim Rosenman and she is not stressing herself about it one bit. "I'm taking my time for sure, but I have begun planning," she said. She continued, "I thought I had some stuff figured out, but some things have gotten switched up as of late. I don't really want to get into it, but it's definitely at the forefront of my mind, and I'm working on it. There are obviously so many different decisions to make, but I'm the kind of person that gives myself time and doesn't really put pressure on myself, which can be nice, but sometimes when you do that you become this indecisive ball of mess."

Port is over the moon about marrying her Prince Charming, but doesn't care a great deal about the "married" label. "I already know that I'm going to be with him forever, and I feel completely confident in that. I don't need that label. But I just think it's exciting to be in this next chapter of our lives, as cheesy as it sounds. I think the most exciting thing is, obviously, just to be able to start a family and to call him my husband."

What we can expect from Port's wedding? A "colorful" and "eclectic" mix with loads of "texture" play. Hopefully, Conrad will be in attendance and we can get the reunion we've been so patiently waiting for.

The Lowdown on Engagement Parties

chic engagement party

Photo: Jessica Craig-Martin

When it comes to engagement parties, there really are no set rules. Sometimes, engagement parties are thrown as a surprise, either for the newly affianced bride-to-be to celebrate immediately following the proposal. Another option? Either of the couple's parents can host a gathering to introduce the soon-to-be-married couple to their social circles and rejoice in the pending marriage. Among these celebrations, guests may be confused on appropriate decorum, especially whether or not they should present a gift — even more so with bridal shower, bachelorette, and wedding looming in the future. Here, a basic overview of engagement parties and their inherent demands.

There's no set-in-stone style for throwing an engagement party: That is, an engagement party can be a multitude of things. First, as we mentioned above, an impromptu engagement party, often a surprise, can be thrown by friends and family immediately post-proposal. On the other hand, one set (or both sets!) of parents can throw an engagement party to celebrate the couple with their friends and other family members. The level of formality is up to the hosts: It could be a swanky evening affair or a casual luncheon. Moral of the story: these get together really can be whatever you want, or what your friends and family want to do to celebrate your pending nuptials.

As for gifts, there's no requirement to bring one: Sure, you can present something sentimental to help congratulate the couple, but there's no etiquette requirements to purchase a pricey-gift, give the host a present, or for the couple to register. Leave that to the wedding!

Remember to choose the guest list wisely: Every person you invite to your engagement party, must receive an invite to the actual wedding. So think twice before sending out that mass Facebook invite.

These Two Dogs Had the Cutest Wedding Ever! Watch the Adorable Video

Let's face it: Weddings are impossibly cute. No matter the couple's taste, such an outpouring of love and emotion makes us feel all giddy inside. But a real wedding video that Buzzfeed recently stumbled upon took the sweetness quotient up a notch. Meet Chelsea and Hudson: two dachshunds who are crazy in love and decided to make it official by getting married. Yes, two dogs tied the knot!

Their pet parents staged an adorable wedding that was just as good as some human nuptials we've seen take place, with décor and details that were pulled from the best of Pinterest.

One of the dogs' owners told Danni Rivera, the Brooklyn-based wedding photographer who filmed the wedding video, "I mentioned (over wine) how funny it'd be if Hudson and [Chelsea] got married. Like, really married. With flowers and an invitation and a ceremony and guests. The whole shebang."

See More: 40 Adorable Ways to Include Your Pet in Your Wedding

And get married is exactly what Chelsea and Hudson did. The wedding invitations were the first step and the owners were able to get some help from local businesses and friends to make the dream come to fruition. Place settings came in the form of doggy treats and featured the names of all the cute canines that would be in attendance to help the happy couple celebrate their special day.

The floral centerpieces were amazing and the aisle runner was lined with printed pillows and small vases. The actual altar was made out of a curtain rod and two circular tables. Pretty genius if you ask us.

A bulldog officiated the ceremony because we all know their breed means business. He rolled around a bit and had some fun, but that's what weddings are for right?

Yes, you might want to take some cues from a couple of dogs tying the knot for your upcoming wedding. And if you don't, you at least want to watch the video a few times to lift your spirits.

Tyler Hubbard is no stranger to strong duos. He's one-half of the popular country pair Florida Georgia Line, and now, he's about to start a new twosome: Just yesterday Hubbard proposed to girlfriend Hayley Stommel during a romantic helicopter ride.

"I'm the luckiest man and never thought I would find such a perfect girl for me," Hubbard told People of his proposal. "This will truly be a life of happiness and love forever."

The pair also shared some Instagram photos from the special occasion.

"This is what a lucky man looks like right here. Not sure why but I sure am blessed to call this angel my fiancée. #loveisintheair #literally," Hubbard wrote alongside a photo of him and Stommel in a helicopter toasting glasses of champagne (above).

Stommel also shared some sweet sentiments, captioning her Instagram photo, above, taken in front of the helicopter where the magical moment happened: "Blessed to call this amazing man my fiancé @thubbmusic #Godgavemeyou #loveisintheair"

Hubbard's professional partner, Florida Georgia Line bandmate Brian Kelley, said "I do" to his love Brittney Marie, just this past December. Marie was quick to send her well wishes to the newly-engaged couple. "Literally have a tear in my eye over @THubbmusic & @hayleystom engagement. Us 4 for life. FAM," the country star's wife tweeted after hearing the happy news.

And while Hubbard's proposal and relationship with Stommel is extremely sweet, we're really swooning over the bride-and-groom-to-be's golden retriever pup, Harley Hubbard, who even has his own Instagram!

It's clear from the three of them (yes, puppy Harley included) that they're already an adorable unit. We can't wait to see them wed, and hope that they'll include Harley in the festivities!

Bride and Groom First Kiss

For Megan, 24, and Jonathan, 26, choosing a date for their wedding was easy. "My parents, grandparents, and great grandparents were all married on June 27th," she says. "We were thrilled to be the fourth generation to share the date!"

For their own June 27, 2013 wedding, the couple, high school friends who reconnected years later on Facebook, decided to say "I do" on the front lawn of Megan's childhood home, a restored Victorian in Yorkville, Illinois. With the farmhouse setting a rustic, down-to-earth scene, Megan continued the shabby-chic feel by hanging antique windowpanes as a ceremony backdrop and decorating the lawn with natural-looking arrangements of wildflowers and ferns.

Read on for some sweet tips from this couple's country wedding, photographed by Le Cape Weddings.

Have fun with your wedding shoes
Who says you can only have one pair of shoes for your wedding? Megan couldn't decide, so she bought both of the pairs she was eyeing. She wore a pair of girly pink ballet flats for her ceremony, then slipped into a pair of brown cowboy boots for the rustic reception that took place between the barn and a cornfield. "I'm from the country, boots just made sense," she says.

Work with the groomsmen — and your groom!
While the groom was all for wearing pink (it's his favorite color!), the bride worried his groomsmen wouldn't feel the same. Rather than force the boys to wear such a girly hue, they let them decide! Jon and his guys donned gray Converse All-Stars and pink and gray striped bow ties.

Make your exit memorable
The new Mr. and Mrs. Henderson made their exit in a neighbor's 1960s Chevy Impala convertible. The open top allowed the newlyweds to say their final good-byes to guests from the back seat of the retro ride—and this departure kiss made for a pretty great photo!

Jessa Duggar Has Already Planned Her Entire Wedding

The Duggars know how to plan a wedding — quick. Just look at their second-oldest daughter, Jill, who married in a matter of two months and is now expected a baby. Next up is Jessa, who got engaged to Ben Seewald two months following her sister Jill's wedding, and has hit the ground running with wedding planning. So much so, that she has her date set (November 1!), they've sent out invites, the bridesmaid dresses are selected.

"I am super excited," Jessa told People. "Everybody has really been pitching in."

The most important to-do checked off of Jessa's list? She found her dream wedding dress. "I put it on, looked in the mirror, and it hit me," Jessa said. "I'm going to be a bride."

Even dad Jim Bob has been pitching in. "I tell you it is very busy," Jim Bob said to People. "Jessa is working on all these details that she and Ben are planning. I really don't have a vision of how to put a wedding together, it is just an endless amount of details and choices. It is overwhelming. But, we are excited for Ben and Jessa and how the Lord has worked in their lives."

And mom Michelle can't help but get a bit emotional (albeit very excited) about all of the changes in her family recently. "We are enjoying spending the time with Jessa and Ben now," Michelle said. "She'll be doing her own thing and having her own family before long. I realize that all our lives are going to change when she gets married, and I tell her younger siblings that it will be fun in a new way."

In case you were wondering: Like Jill, Jessa also plans to share her first kiss with Ben once they're officially declared husband and wife.

Great Ideas for Honoring Your Grandparents at Your Wedding

$

Many lucky brides and grooms honor their grandmas and grandpas through creative means, like providing them with boutonnieres or bouquets or assigning them a reading during the ceremony. Others may wonder about how to memorialize a deceased grandparent or how to thank one that's been particularly helpful. We sought out some etiquette expert-approved advice for couples requiring advice on these super-important family members!

I'd love to honor my deceased grandfather during the ceremony. Do you have any ideas of how to do this?
This is always a lovely idea, as long as it is neither morbid nor lengthy. A simple declaration of love, a moment of silence, or the lighting of a candle may be the most eloquent commemoration. Often, couples find it too difficult to honor the deceased, so they make their memorials private. They may do so by offering a silent prayer, wearing something of the person who has died, or by laying a bouquet of flowers on the front pew/chair or by the altar.

My grandmother has been so supportive and helpful during my wedding planning! How can I properly thank her for this?
Though not expected, gifts for grandparents who have cherished and supported you through thick and thin are a great idea! Since she's helping you out of the goodness of her heart, expense isn't an issue: A present can be as simple as a rose and a loving note placed on her seat at the ceremony or a small book of verse or poems with a special inscription.

Should I send an engagement announcement to my grandparents? They already know I'm engaged.
If you're planning on sending these (they're not so common anymore), then definitely loop in grandma and grandpa! They'll love the formal notice. To that end, be sure you phone them to let them know you're engaged soon after you tell your parents.

A Quick Guide to Common Food Restrictions at Weddings

$
0
0

Planning a wedding reception menu isn't always as simple as "chicken or fish?" With many people observing dietary restrictions, there's a lot to consider from what kind of sauce to use to what's in your cake. Food restrictions are also not something to take lightly, as most stem from health, cultural, or religious reasons. But the good news is: Any caterer worth its weight should be able to accommodate with no problem. Below, a quick guide to four common dietary needs and how provide (delicious) menu options for everyone.

Kosher
Kosher meals will usually need to be catered by a separate company than the one you are using for the rest of your guests. Kosher observers not only have restrictions on the type of food and wine they can consume, but also how it's prepared, what the utensils come into contact with, how the plates are handled, and more. There are varying levels of how strictly people observe Kosher dietary laws, so speak to your guests in advance to ask what they require. Then work with your venue to determine the best caterer to fit their needs. Keep in mind that because Kosher menus are special ordered, they need to be placed well in advance of the event date.

Gluten Free
A gluten intolerance is a serious deal — you don't want to send a guest home sick after your reception! Luckily, many caterers can easily make gluten-free options for your cocktail hour and reception, but it's up to you to make sure that there's enough variety so your gluten-free guests are not stuck only being able to eat one thing all night. A gluten-free diet usually excludes most grain-based products including wheat, barley, and rye. This means no beer, bread, cakes, candies, cookies, pastas, some soups and sauces.

See More: Figuring Out Finger Foods: What to Serve and When

Vegan
Vegans do not eat any meat, fish, poultry, or anything derived from animals such as eggs, dairy, or honey. In order to accommodate a vegan request for your reception, you will need to speak with your caterer ahead of time to prepare an entrée that is free of any animal or diary products. An easy trick to ensure that your caterer doesn't accidently forget about vegan restrictions is to mention that your guest is allergic to eggs and diary. Also, don't forget to have some options for them when it comes to dessert (fresh fruit) and the coffee bar (soy, rice, or almond milk).

Nut-allergies
Nut allergies are another serious matter, and one that needs to be addressed with your caterer ahead of time. In serious cases — for example, if your guest can't even have something that has touched peanuts during the preparation — you will need to have the dish prepared and plated separately. The good news is, usually it's something as simple as taking nuts out of a recipe or substituting in a different sauce. Nut allergies are common, and your caterer should be able to accommodate easily, but it's never a bad idea to have your guest double or even triple check with the kitchen before placing her order.

Want to Own a Piece of Royal Wedding History? You're in Luck!

Sure, their wedding was over three years ago, but that doesn't mean fans of Prince William and Kate Middleton are done obsessing over their royal nuptials. Case in point: You can now own a slice of their iconic wedding (pun intended).

According to the Daily Mail, a new auction at Julien's auction house in Beverly Hills, California will be offering several pieces of royal memorabilia as part of a special sale this December. While the main draw will be several garments from Princess Diana's personal collection, there's one special addition that's meant to sweeten the deal — a slice of Will and Kate's wedding cake from their April 29, 2011 celebration.

Will Kate Royal Wedding Cake

Photo: Getty Images

The towering, eight-tiered fruitcake adorned with the couple's new cipher and tons of floral details, including 17 different types of flowers and foliage, was created by British baker Fiona Cairns. The white confection worthy of a future king and queen took a whopping five weeks to complete.

The question is how much would you be willing to pay for a slice of three-year old fruitcake? The Daily Mail reports that royal-watchers are likely to spend around $2,000 for the single slice of dessert! The price tag seems reasonable considering a 33-year-old slice of Prince Charles and Princess Diana's wedding cake sold for $1,375 just last month (although, according to the Telegraph, the unknown bidder was warned not to try and eat the three-decades old confection.)

And if that piece of royal wedding memorabilia isn't enough to spark your interest, a blank invitation to their fairytale nuptials will be up for grabs, too.

Ready to Party Like It's 1985? Listen to Our Ultimate '80s Wedding Playlist

Let's face it: When it comes to wedding music, the '80s is quite possibly the decade that lends itself best to a rockin' reception. From timeless power ballads (hello, Bon Jovi's "I'll Be There For You") to fun, peppy tunes like Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," it's hard to imagine a wedding without at least one of the best songs from the '80s playing.

You don't have to revolve your entire reception around these most excellent songs, but your guests will certainly show their appreciation by hitting the dance floor if you play Michael Jackson's "Thriller," at the very least. We took it upon ourselves to curate a Spotify playlist of some of the best, quality-assured tracks that capture that fabulous decade of music.

See more: First Dance Songs from Real Weddings

For starters, Madonna is always a crowd-pleaser. Whether you and your bridesmaids dance around to "Material Girl" or share a melodramatic slow-dance to "Like a Prayer," the Queen of Pop is a surefire wedding reception hit. Then there's those one-hit wonders that everyone will want to groove to, like Toto's "Africa" and Dexy's Midnight Runners' "Come On, Eileen." Our personal favorites? The sappy love songs, like "Keep on Loving you" by REO Speedwagon and "Endless Love" by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross.

If you want your guests to really bust a move, any of these songs will do. We know you're already playing the air guitar, so sit back, press play on our Spotify playlist (below), and imagine weddings filled with puffy sleeves, glitter, and neon.

Do You Know Your Fiancé's Number?

The question isn't whether you want to know your soon-to-be husband's number — and you know we're not talking about his phone number. After all, according to Andrea Syrtash, relationship expert and author of Cheat on Your Husband (With Your Husband), "It's normal to want to know about your partner's romantic and sexual past. It's a way of learning more about him or her — and also quenching your curiosity!"

The question really is why you want to know his number. "Most people who ask believe they will be comforted by the answer or learn something new that is important to know," Syrtash says. "In reality, finding out your partner's number probably won't help you much."

In fact, simply learning a digit could create a problem in your relationship that shouldn't exist. "If the number is staggeringly high, you may wonder if he'll have a wandering eye in your relationship," Syrtash says. "If the number is too low, you may not believe him or question his experience and skills in the bedroom. There is a chance, of course, that the number will be fine and not affect you either way — but in that case, what's the point."

See More: 4 Ways to Tell You're With the Guy You'll Marry

So if you're curious about your partner's sexual past, the best thing to do is move the conversation away from a number you can't control and toward something that will benefit you both. Consider asking questions about your significant other's past experiences, suggests Syrtash. What did he learn? What didn't work? "In your conversation, focus on quality information, not quantity," she says.

If you feel you must know his number, then keep an open mind when you ask — and try to keep a poker face when he responds. "Whatever you do, you should try not to judge or criticize since that's a conversation killer," says Syrtash.

Remember that "having different number of sexual partners doesn't mean you're not compatible," she says. "If, however, it reflects your values — one of you is a virgin and the other has had so many partners he or she has lost count! — it may be worth a discussion to make sure your needs are aligned."

Well, that settles that! A year and a half after Jeremy Renner and model Sonni Pacheco welcomed daughter Ava, the Avengers and The Town actor confirmed to Capitol File magazine that he is, in fact, married to his longtime girlfriend.

In doing so, Renner explained that he's kept quiet about his marriage to keep his job as a movie star from interfering with his personal life.

"I have tried to protect my family's privacy, my wife's privacy. I don't need her to get hammered with my life," he said at a Washington, D.C., screening of his latest film, Kill the Messenger, last night.

"Privacy issues are important because I want her to go about her day without being bothered," said Renner, who both stars in and produced his latest movie.

When asked if he is married (he showed up wearing a wedding band), Renner replied, "Yes."

Though Renner, who's also starred in The Hurt Locker, American Hustle, and The Bourne Legacy, had kept silent about his marriage until now, this wasn't the first time he'd worn a wedding ring in public. According to Us Weekly, he first sported a band on his left finger while attending the 17th annual Hollywood Film Awards in October 2013.

His statement on married life was brief, but he gladly obliged reporters' questions about fatherhood. "It's the best thing I have ever done — doing it later on in life. By then I achieved a lot of things that I wanted to achieve; I'm so blessed for that. Now I can really spend time with family. The only thing I think about when I'm not with my baby is, 'How do I get to my baby?' I need to get to her, and I'm very miserable when I don't see her. I really love being a father," he said.

Summer has officially come to a close. That means your fall wedding is right around the corner! Don't panic — there are some really great ways to unwind before the momentous occasion to help you relax and stay focused. From taking a quick weekend getaway to an always-needed spa day, here are five ways you can center yourself before your autumn nuptials.

Take a fitness class.
The best way to get rid of stress and anxiety is to sweat them out. Instead of pining away about what's to come, live in the moment and challenge yourself in a way you haven't in quite some time. Whether it's yoga or kickboxing, the possibilities are endless. You'll feel better, be ready to take on your wedding with loads of energy, and you'll be toned throughout the process.

Book a staycation.
Peak summer vacation time has come to close, so it's actually a great time to book a room for the weekend in one of the most beautiful hotels in your city. A "staycation" means you won't have to worry about travel (read: you'll save money), while getting some serious rest and relaxation alone or with your future spouse.

Indulge in a little retail therapy for your honeymoon.
We know, we know: one should be saving with the remaining wedding fees on the horizon right? Well, retail therapy is a very real way to heal and with your honeymoon mere months or even weeks away, there's nothing wrong with doing a little shopping for the once-in-a-lifetime trip. Whether you're buying small things like a great sunscreen and a new pair of sunglasses or an amazing dress for that fancy first dinner, we guarantee that a little spending will help you unwind.

Indulge in a spa day.
The summer did a number on your skin, thus a facial is in order, but adding a massage to that or another pampering service will release all your tension and leave you feeling renewed and beautiful.

Make weekly walks a thing.
Fresh air has a way of clearing your mind and calming you down, so you should definitely get out and take a long walk at least once a week. Whether you go it alone to your favorite park bundled up or bring your spouse-to-be along to catch up on each other's weeks, we guarantee it will quiet and soothe your spirit.
