Game, set, match! Tennis star Andy Murray proposed to longtime girlfriend Kim Sears and she said yes, as reported by BBC News earlier this week.
The British news outlet believes that the Scottish-born athlete and his newly-minted fiancée actually became engaged a week before that, but neither have made any comment just yet.
Murray and Sears have been a couple for close to nine years, showing that their decision to tie the knot is far from a whirlwind. BBC News states that the pair met at the U.S. Open in 2005 and she has since been present at a slew of his matches. One of their most memorable moments is at Wimbledon 2013 when cameras caught Murray kissing Sears after beating Novak Djokovic in the Men's Singles Final.
He told U.K. newspaper The Telegraph after winning against Lleyton Hewitt and Andy Roddick in 2006, "It's the first time Kim has come to a tournament. That made me quite relaxed. I'll have to take her to some more tournaments."

His tennis matches aren't the only place where the twosome have been spotted together, as he frequently brings the British beauty (who is the daughter of former Lawn Tennis Association head of women's tennis Nigel Sears) along to formal events. Last year, the two got dressed up and headed to Buckingham Palace where Murray was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), as well as having received a medal from Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge.
Rumors started circulating of the couple's engagement in January of this year, when Murray tweeted, "We are getting married just after Wimbledon. Should be a great day." According to E! News, he quickly followed up with "I'm not getting married (yet)," disappointing many of the pair's fans.
Congrats to the happy couple!
