We love celebrity party thrower Alison Hotchkiss's work (she planned funnyman Seth Rogen's wedding!) and had to know what she envisioned for her own big day. So we asked her to dream up all of the gorgeous details and report back to us. The result? A fun, Latin-inspired party with plenty of seafood, great tunes, and a dramatic exit on horseback. Discover all of her wedding inspiration below.
FANTASY LOOK
Hair: Down, loose, and done by Winc Artistry's whiz Jade Tu. In the bridal beauty kit: Kevin Murphy spray for beachy locks, C E Ferulic by Skinceuticals for glowy skin, and matte red lipstick by Nars. Shoes: Barefoot by day, Sigerson Morrison linen peep-toe wedges by night. Gown: Nicole Miller (see above!)
TRADITIONS
Something old: Lace from my grandmother's wedding gown wrapped around my bouquet. Something blue: Grandma Hotchkiss's big, beautiful blue ring. Maid of honor's gift: A chic necklace.
KEEPSAKES
Invite: Nautical with cool type. For the mantel: A portrait of us by Jose Villa. The money shot: A long exposure of the party from afar—captured by Mel Barlow, Thayer Allyson Gowdy, Jesse Leake, or Elizabeth Messina.
PERFECT PARTY
Palette: Pink, tangerine, and buttery yellow flowers accented with slate grey linens. Venue: The Dunmore, in the Bahamas. Party vibe: Latin. For extra fun: Badminton, horseshoes, hammocks. Made from scratch: Cocktail napkins by Olive-Route. Rain plan: A tent from Sperry—with wooden poles and sail-cloth tops. Cake flavor: Chocolate-peanut butter ice cream. Topper: Groovy heart-shaped milagros from Tulum, Mexico. Grand exit: On a horse.
ON THE MENU
Specialty drink: Dark-and-stormy roadies en route to the ceremony. Dining style: Lounge-y. Perfect pairing: Cupcake Vineyards prosecco with Hog Island oysters. Restaurant dish to re-create: Linguine and littleneck clams from Fish, in New York City.
SOUNDTRACK
Processional: "Waiting in Vain," by Bob Marley. Recessional: "Lovely Day," by Bill Withers. Cocktail-hour music: Lynne Jordan and the Shivers. Father-daughter dance: A song by Steely Dan, Paul Simon, or Hall and Oates. Those are my dad's favorites. Dance tunes: Spun by DJ Blue. Last song: "1999," by Prince. So cheesy!
MUST-HAVES
In the welcome bag: Sweet Revolution caramels, Cape Cod chips, prestamped local postcards, and a cool hand-drawn map of the area. Videographer alternative: Pocket camcorders for guests to document the party and conduct silly interviews with. Newlywed seating: Foliage-adorned bentwood chairs from Classic Party Rentals. Shower: A coed surf weekend in Montauk, Long Island. Bachelorette: A spa-and-yoga weekend in Santa Fe. Dream honeymoon: Ravello, Italy
