New York Knicks star Amar'e Stoudemire got engaged to long-time girlfriend Alexis Welch over the weekend while the couple was vacationing in Paris. "Paris, the food, and lights were very romantic," Stoudemire tweeted. "When she said yes, it was surreal. I'm still floating." With the Eiffel Tower as a backdrop, the Knicks' captain and power forward proposed outside the palatial Belle Etoile Royal Suite at the Le Meurice Hotel, reports Us Weekly magazine. The 2,960 square-foot suite boasts an enormous private terrace with panoramic views of some of Paris' most famous sites including the Musée d'Orsay, Grand Palais, and the Arc de Triomphe. But we have a feeling Welch, who has three children with Stoudemire, was a little more interested in checking out the 8.5-carat radiant-cut white gold diamond ring that Stoudemire co-designed with Los Angeles-based jeweler Shayan Afshar. (We would be!) "I have been planning my proposal for a while and overlooking the entire Paris skyline seemed like a perfect place. I am so happy she said yes and now we can continue to build our life together as husband and wife," said Stoudemire in a statement to Us Weekly.
