Let's face it: When it comes to wedding music, the '80s is quite possibly the decade that lends itself best to a rockin' reception. From timeless power ballads (hello, Bon Jovi's "I'll Be There For You") to fun, peppy tunes like Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," it's hard to imagine a wedding without at least one of the best songs from the '80s playing.
You don't have to revolve your entire reception around these most excellent songs, but your guests will certainly show their appreciation by hitting the dance floor if you play Michael Jackson's "Thriller," at the very least. We took it upon ourselves to curate a Spotify playlist of some of the best, quality-assured tracks that capture that fabulous decade of music.

For starters, Madonna is always a crowd-pleaser. Whether you and your bridesmaids dance around to "Material Girl" or share a melodramatic slow-dance to "Like a Prayer," the Queen of Pop is a surefire wedding reception hit. Then there's those one-hit wonders that everyone will want to groove to, like Toto's "Africa" and Dexy's Midnight Runners' "Come On, Eileen." Our personal favorites? The sappy love songs, like "Keep on Loving you" by REO Speedwagon and "Endless Love" by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross.
If you want your guests to really bust a move, any of these songs will do. We know you're already playing the air guitar, so sit back, press play on our Spotify playlist (below), and imagine weddings filled with puffy sleeves, glitter, and neon.
