Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard's relationship has never been traditional. First, they waited until gay marriage was allowed in California before they even thought of tying the knot. Then, once they were able to, they threw what was lightheartedly coined "The World's Worst Wedding." They planned an afternoon civil ceremony at the Beverly Hills County Clerk's Office, where they were merely going to retrieve a marriage license. Instead, though, they took up an employee's offer to get married in one of the empty court rooms. Following the ceremony, the institution's employees gifted the newlyweds a cake, hilariously dubbing the big day a terrible one.
So it doesn't come as much of a surprise that Dax doesn't even wear a wedding band to signify his marriage. Instead, the This is Where I Leave You star opted for a symbolic tattoo.

The tattoo itself, above, is of a Bell, which obviously represent Bell's last name. Inside the bell, adorably, are scrawled three initials: K, L, and D for Kristen, Dax, and little baby Lincoln.
"I don't like wearing jewelry, but I felt obliged to warn all the men that I'm taken," Shepard joked during his appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today. "I thought a tattoo would be fitting. And her last name, conveniently, is an object I could tattoo."

The only problem is that he has to figure out a way to fit in baby number two's initial into his body art. He poked fun at the fact that he's stuck naming his child something with a D, K or L. "Dellen," Shepard joked. "Dellen Egeneres."
Aside from the name, the pair is also choosing to keep the baby's gender a secret. "It's going to be a surprise ... to America," he told the talk show host.
We love the idea of choosing your own marriage marker. But Shepard isn't the only celeb to get a tattoo on his wedding ring finger: Beyoncé and Jay Z both got the Roman numeral for four, IV, tattooed on their fingers to symbolize their bond.
