Tony Award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris has had a busy few years — he's writing a memoir, his long-running hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother ended, and he's been experiencing the joys of parenting twin toddlers, Harper Grace and Gideon Scott with fiancé David Burtka, with whom he has been engaged since 2010. So how does this busy couple keep their love thriving?
According to Harris, change is what keeps his relationship thriving. In the September issue of Glamour, the actor opens up about falling in love with his future husband all over again.
"Honeymoon phases end. They just do," Harris says. "I think you have to find new elements that turn you on, and not only sexually. Having kids was one of those great moments for me. Watching David become another level of person, mastering this other domain, made me look at him with a whole other set of appreciative eyes. That sort of made me re-fall in love with him."

Although it doesn't appear the couple will set a wedding date just yet, they certainly seem happier than ever. And we love that Harris is willing to admit that all relationships require work, no matter how in love the couple may be.
"Everyone falls out of love with everything," Harris adds. "You fall out of love with your house. You fall out of love with your job. You just have to figure out ways to keep [the love] alive."
From what we can tell, there's no shortage of love between the long-time couple. In January, Harris and Burtka posed for Out magazine's annual Love Issue, where they both shared sweet details about their love story.
"Without him, I can't breathe," Burtka told Out of Harris. "The biggest thing is that he makes me laugh, but he's also so smart. He can do everything. I'm not kidding; I think he's half robot. He makes me a little more grounded, and I bring out the wild side in him."
Whenever Harris and Burtka do finally say "I do" we're sure it will be such a special — and long awaited! — day.
