Gorgeous lace wedding dresses are a perennial favorite among brides, but designers are offering up decidedly more daring takes on the classic, feminine style. Case in point: demure yet sexy tattoo lace, which was spotted on just about every bridal runway this season.
One of the most popular ways to incorporate the trend was with an illusion-lace back. Designers like Kenneth Pool (seen above, center), Pronovias, Inbal Dror, Alberta Ferrertti, Maggie Sottero (at right), and Lela Rose (at left) all implemented the sexy-yet-pretty statement back in their latest collections.

From barely there details that give the idea of a totally open back to a more solid-covering with just a hint of illusion, there are so many ways to make the trend your own. Pair it with long sleeves and heavy details for a formal, religious, or winter wedding — you'll be almost entirely covered, but still offering a hint of skin. And more contemporary brides will love the look of a mostly-exposed back with dainty lace details along the button-closure or sides.
