In an industry where divorces and affairs are the norm, it's refreshing to find a few fab leading ladies who've managed to make their marriages work despite the odds. From Beyoncé to Meryl Streep, check out what these stars have to say on how they keep that spark alive.

1. If you're happy with yourself, you'll be happy in your marriage
We absolutely love this quote from Beyoncé on her (then) four-year marriage to rapper Jay Z. She told GQ magazine in a 2008 interview, "I was independent before I met my husband, and we have such a natural chemistry and a genuine relationship, and it's based on the things that relationships are supposed to be based on. I've seen, growing up, when a woman or a man in a relationship — it doesn't matter which one — doesn't feel confident, they feel a bit trapped. Your self-worth is determined by you. You don't have to depend on someone telling you who you are."

2. Equality at home is important
And so is being supportive! In an interview with Allure earlier this year, Victoria Beckham revealed the secret to her 15-year marriage with hubby David Beckham: "[David] is the most wonderful man I have ever met," she said. "He's a fantastic father. He's incredibly talented, a wonderful husband. I supported him for many years, and he's proud of me. He supports me. We're very equal at home." And there you have it.

3. Forgive each other
Jada Pinkett Smith took to her Facebook page this month to drop some nuggets of marriage wisdom on her fans (after all, she has been hitched to Will Smith for 16-plus years!): "A wise man shared with me yesterday one word responsible for his 24 years of marriage. You know what that word was...forgiveness. Happy Sunday:) J."

4. Keep the lines of communication open
If there's anyone we'd take marriage advice from, obviously it's Meryl Streep! The iconic actress spilled the beans in a New Zealand Women's Weekly article on what makes her 35 year marriage to sculptor Don Gummer work. "You have to talk about all the issues that arise, even the smallest things," she said. "You have to listen to your partner's problems, suggestions, and advice, and accept that you're not always right. Conversation is the key to a successful marriage."
