Getting married is the easy part. You know at a wedding, there will be a walk down some kind aisle (usually), some promises shall be made, papers will be signed, a kiss will be exchanged, and it's highly likely that champagne will be popped. Ceremonies may come in all shapes, sizes and traditions but the basics of what it takes to get you married is pretty much the same.

As it turns out, the hard part — the keeping-the-honeymoon-feeling-going-part — also has some basic components. Here, four relationship hacks to a happily ever-after.

1. Check in daily
This is easy, but often forgotten: Asking any version of, "How was your day?" is an essential ingredient to keeping your marriage strong. Knowing and understanding what your partner is going through is a key to being able to feel compassion, empathy and building feelings of friendship that keep your relationship healthy.

2. Don't stop dating
Trying new things releases the same hormones that you get when you first fall in love. So time to date is essential. Also, popular to contrary belief new things do not have to be complicated: Try a new restaurant or take a day trip to the town next door. It's that simple.

3. Declare a safe zone to talk about difficult things
No one gets anything done when they are feeling judged. In a marriage, any form of criticism is practically an act of emotional war. Declaring your marriage a "no-negativity zone" is one of the keys to getting through the hard times together.

4. Learn each other's love language
One of our top books to read before your wedding is called The Five Love Languages. The basic premise is that we all express and receive love in different ways and if we understand the language our partner speaks, we can more easily share loving experiences together.
