You might have assumed Jessica Simpson's custom gold Carolina Herrera gown would've been the star of her July 5th nuptials to Eric Johnson at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecido, California. Yet it turns out, it was the couple's little ones who caught the guests' attention.
In the non-denominational ceremony officiated by Simpson's dad, Joe, two-year-old daughter Maxwell acted as flower girl, while one-year-old Ace was the adorable ring bearer. Usually, guests are silent in anticipation of the bride, but Simpson reportedly heard cheers and applause before she event walked out.
"Before I walked out, I kept hearing all the applause, so my kids got standing ovations!" the proud mom and new Mrs. Johnson tells People.

It's not surprising that the Simpson-Johnson children were received with such excitement. "It's all about family for us," Simpson explains. So much so, that she had mom Tina and sister Ashlee both serve as maids of honor, while Johnson's dad stood by the groom's side as best man and Ashlee's fiancé, Evan Ross, acted as one of Johnson's 11 groomsmen.
But when it was Simpson's turn to walk down the aisle, the crowd turned silent. The only audible sound? Gasps at Simpson's Herrera creation, People reports.
"I saw my gorgeous wife coming towards me and she was crying," Johnson says of his gorgeous bride. "I think my heart was exploding a little bit."
The feeling was mutual for Simpson, who couldn't keep her eyes of her man in a custom charcoal gray John Varvatos tux. "It's so surreal. This has been something we've wanted ever since we met."
