Flawless hair and makeup starts with dedicated skin- and hair-care regimens. This is a rule bride-to-be and Brides June/July cover girl Olivia Palermo must know, because at a recent dinner party, For the Love of Cinema, she let her glowing skin and shiny hair stand on their own — no fussy updo or statement lip needed. Whether for your engagement party, bridal shower or rehearsal dinner, this versatile look works for just about any event (and complements any dress!). Here, the key elements to getting Ms. Palermo's gorgeous look.

Shiny, Sun-Kissed Hair:
Palermo knows her deep brunette hair can't go blonde, but a few strategically placed highlights just a shade lighter than her natural hue makes it look like her hair was lightened from a day at the beach. (A few face-framing highlights also contribute to her glowing complexion, but more on that later.) To keep colored locks healthy, use a deep-conditioning mask at least once a week and frizz-fighting shampoo and conditioner daily. Even if frizz isn't on your list of hang-ups, these products add shine and polish to wavy and straight hair textures, too. Also worth noting? Straight hair doesn't have to mean stick straight — we love that Palermo's center-parted locks are full of body. Forgo a straightening iron and blow dry with a large-barrel round brush, which will keep damage at bay.

Dewy, Glowing Skin:
Palermo's name-dropped Dr. Dennis Gross as her go to skin-care guru, so we wouldn't be surprised if she's using his Alpha Beta Glow Pad to achieve her envy-inducing complexion. (What it is, quickly: an exfoliating, acne-eliminating, pore-minimizing sunless tanner that's chock-full of antioxidants. In other words, life changing.) Contour with a bronze highlighter such as Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, which blurs imperfections for a soft-focus finish, or as we like to say, creates the Instagram Effect. For an extra dose of dewy, finish with a setting spray to ensure your makeup lasts all night long.

Bambi Eyes:
Palermo is rarely seen without ultra-flattering, wide-eyed makeup. Start with a neutral brown eye shadow palette, using the darkest shade closet to your lash line and ending with the lightest shade at your brow bone. Apply a thin line of liquid liner as close to your upper lash line as humanly possible. (This seemingly small detail works wonders in making your eyes appear larger, trust us.) Finish with an eyelash curler and a few coats of top-heavy mascara. A final trick? Dab a bit of white eye shadow or eyeliner on the inner corners of your eyes for an instant brightening effect. (It also makes close-set eyes seem farther apart.)
Clinique All About Shadow 8-Pan Palette, $36, available at Clinique; Shiseido Eyelash Curler, $19, available at Sephora; Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Babydoll, $30, available at Sephora

Neutral Lips with a Hint of Shimmer:
Palermo's subtle, peachy-pink lips add the perfect finishing touch. Simply use your finger to dab on a bit of multi-purpose shimmer stick. Huge plus? A nude lip will ensure you won't have to worry about keeping your lipstick perfectly in tact — and off of your fiancé's cheeks.
Nars The Multiple in Orgasm, $39, available at Sephora
