Finding a wedding dress that flatters your figure, complements your personal style, and goes with the overall vibe of your wedding is tough! Add in concerns over height, and the whole process can get downright overwhelming. What are the wedding dress options for taller brides? Our wedding etiquette experts are here to answer your wedding dress questions in our daily post.
I am six feet and one inch tall. Will I be able to find wedding dresses that fit me, or do I need to have something custom made?
Don't stress! Nearly every bride has some sort of physical concern to work with, and wedding dress designers and salons know that full well. You have several options, and none of them include forgoing your dream wedding dress just because it is not long enough. According to Terry Hall at Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City, even though most made-to-order gowns are designed for brides five foot eight and under, they can be lengthened for a fee (on average, this type of tailoring costs $300). This means you mostly have your pick of designer gowns. And what if you are planning to purchase something off-the-rack? David's Bridal carries a number of gowns in longer sizes. This cuts out the tailoring fee, and means you will get an almost-exact idea of what your dress will look like on your big day as soon as you try it on. Whichever way you go, make sure to bring up your height when you meet with a salesperson or consultant.
