Meet our new beauty columnist, Drew Barrymore! The actress, producer, and Flower Beauty founder is here and ready to answer your questions.
Q: Is there anything I can do in the week before my wedding to get that bridal glow?
Drew Barrymore: Don't do anything drastic! A cleanse can lead to a cold. Facials can cause breakouts. This is a time to eat well and exercise, because slow and steady wins the race. On your special day, use moisturizer under your makeup to give a dewy look to your skin (like Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré, $28) and wear lip gloss for extra shine. A few nights before, do a hair mask. (Try René Furterer Karité Intense Nourishing Mask, $46.) And have fun! Being happy is always your best look.
Q: I want to do a bold lip. How do I find the right red for me?
DB: It's all about skin tone. You may be better suited for a coral-red or more of a blue-red or a burgundy. Certain neutral reds look good on most skin tones, like our High Shine Lip Color in Rose Bud ($6.98). P.S.: To secure your lipstick before you walk the aisle, blot your color, apply a tiny bit of loose powder, then blot again. Then kiss it all away!
Q: I don't wear much makeup, but I want to step it up for my wedding. How can I look polished while still feeling like myself?
DB: Great question! It reminds me of my best friend, a natural beauty who hates when people put too much makeup on her for functions. I say, if you're a natural girl, stay natural! But here are a few tips for looking great on your special day:
1. Wear a concealer or a tinted moisturizer at most, and stay away from base foundation makeup.
2. Use plenty of waterproof mascara. It won't change the shape of your eyes like eyeliner and shadow can. It will just make them look poppy and pretty.
3. Use a light-pink cream blush, which will let your natural skin shine through and give you a glow.
4. Use a lip butter or gloss so your natural lips come through. (Lipstick can feel like paint.)
5. Match your lips and cheeks in color tone so you don't have too many colors on your face.
6. Have the best day ever!
