After New York State legalized same-sex marriage in July, designer Isaac Mizrahi and his boyfriend of six years, Arnold Germer, decided they wanted to get married. But instead of the usual hoopla ensnaring celebrity weddings, the couple chose to elope—all the way down to Manhattan's City Hall on Nov. 30.
While promoting the premiere of Project Runway All Stars (on which he's a judge) on Wendy Williams' talk show yesterday, Mizrahi told the host he never expected to become emotional during a courthouse ceremony. "I thought it was just a bunch of paperwork," he said. "So we went to the chapel, which we didn't expect, and she said, 'Please come forward. Do you, Arnold Germer, take...' and I started sobbing. It was one of those moments." —Phillip B. Crook
