Photos: The Decisive Moment
Katie and Chip met at a football game while attending Georgia Tech as undergrads. The couple chose to wed at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, which the bride's family has attended for years. At their wedding, Katie wore an organza and lace Marisa gown ("I felt like it was made for me," she says) with a cathedral-length veil, both from Solutions Bridal in Gainesville, FL.
The reception was held in the ballroom of a private club, where tables featured centerpieces of roses, hydrangeas, and lisianthuses in glass vases filled with submerged orchids. For dinner, guests enjoyed Southern favorites like fried green tomatoes and smoked turkey breast on sweet potato biscuits. The wedding cake, by the club's pastry chef, was adorned with fresh roses. Also on offer was a dessert buffet featuring bananas foster, a favorite of the bride's grandfather.
After the last song, the Beatles' "All You Need Is Love," Katie and Chip exited in the Georgia Tech "Ramblin' Wreck"—a 1930 Ford Model A sport coupe rented from the Ramblin' Reck Club—as guests tossed rose petals and lavender seeds. "As the Wreck drove away, some guests started a Georgia Tech chant," says Katie. "It was so much fun!"
