Why did Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel choose Italy as their destination wedding location? The simple answer? I mean, why not say "I do" in Italy? But all kidding aside, the European hotspot meant something to them—and that's the number one reason a couple takes into consideration when choosing a destination wedding location. JT and Jess traveled to Italy for friend Beverly Mitchell's Amalfi Coast wedding back in 2008 (Jessica was a bridesmaid).
In April, the two returned to southern Italy, staying at Francis Ford Coppola's posh Palazzo Margherita, a 19th century palace with marble floors and hand-painted fresco celings in Bernalda. The tiny town is not too far from Puglia, where Justin and Jessica ultimately got married (it's the heel of the boot, fyi). The whole region is famous for producing loads of olive oil and wine, and it's not super-touristy, with tiny seaside towns strung out along the Adriatic.
So why the white-stoned, castle-like Borgo Egnazia for a venue? The new 63-room, 28-villa luxury hotel feels like a mini-village, and was tight on security, so guests like Timbaland didn't have to be nervous about the paparazzi. Imagine two pools for chillaxing, four restaurants, a huge spa offering Roman baths, olive oil massages, and Apulia pink salt scrubs. Sounds like a fabulous honeymoon and destination wedding spot, all rolled into one.
