Kate and Michael, who live in San Diego, decided to wed in Santa Barbara, the site of their first meeting. "We wanted a natural, rustic setting, and Orella Ranch, a farm and working ranch on the Gaviota coast, was exactly what we envisioned," says Kate.
At the 5 p.m. ceremony, held on a bluff, the couple exchanged vows beneath a chiffon-draped canopy adorned with fresh hops; potted lavender and calla lilies were arranged at the base. All of the flowers, including Kate's bouquet, were planned to be soft and romantic, with hints of the color lavender; floral design was by Blue Magnolia Events.
Guests enjoyed lemon drop martinis and watermelon mojitos during cocktail hour, along with assorted bruschetta, mini tarts, and baked clams. Ceremony and cocktail hour music was provided by Rossi Music. At dinner, guests sampled local wines and offerings from several food stations. All catering was provided by Pure Joy Catering and incorporated ingredients from the local farmers' market.
