We asked The Official Preppy Handbook's Lisa Birnbach to field your bridal dilemmas. Listen up, ladies. Her tips will help you keep your sanity—and your friendships—in tact.

I come from a very large family and want them all to be in my wedding party. However, my close girlfriends want to be in it as well. What honors are there besides being the maid of honor or a bridesmaid? —Laura J. of Dallas, via email

Dear Laura,

There are lots of things they can do. You could ask your friends to read, to usher (women can escort the extra grandpa or uncle down the aisle), or to play music if they are performers—and are actually, you know, good. Readings don't have to be religious; your friends could recite anything from a song lyric to dialogue from an apropos scene of 30 Rock. You could also ask your girls to give toasts at the reception, or even be your official wedding witnesses. They can be VIPs at the party without being in the wedding party.
