Brian proposed to Allyson in 2009 by placing her ring on a branch of their Christmas tree. "We wanted a wedding that was Christmasy, elegant, and very warm," says Allyson. The bride wore a Monique Lhuillier gown from L'Elite Boutique. The groom sported a Ralph Lauren suit and champagne-colored tie. The Catholic ceremony was held at St. Agatha Parish and included traditional Christmas music as well as a processional to "A Time for Us," the theme song from Romeo & Juliet (1969), which had been Allyson's parents' first-dance song.
When the couple's 225 guests arrived at the Boston Harbor Hotel for cocktail hour, they were greeted in the rotunda with a performance by Figgy Puddin' Holiday Carollers. For the reception in the venue's Wharf Room, Allyson and Brian hoped to create a warm, festive ambience with tall ivory pillar candles, an ornately decorated Christmas tree. Guests dined on their choice of three entrees: barbecued duck breast, pan-seared haddock, or grilled filet mignon. The venue catered the meal and the beribboned gift box-themed cake.
