Just when we thought the celebrity engagement announcements were slowing down, a rep for Keira Knightley shared that the star became engaged to James Righton, a keyboard player for the U.K. indie rock band, Klaxons, over the weekend. Introduced by mutual friend, fashion correspondent Alexa Chung, the duo began dating in February 2011, shortly after Knightley's split with Rupert Friend, her Pride & Prejudice co-star, whom she dated for five years.
Righton popped the question with what appears to be a round-cut diamond on a thin gold band, according to People. No details about the proposal or the wedding have been revealed, but don't expect the gorgeous Brit to throw a blow-out bash on par with the royals. We think the famously private actress is more likely to elope to an exotic locale for a secret ceremony and honeymoon. Perhaps an island in the Caribbean? (Unless, after filming three Pirates movies, she's tired of it's beautiful beaches and crystal blue waters—but we doubt it.)
One wedding day detail that's sure to stun will be Knightley's dress. The starlet, who last hit the red carpet in late January 2012 wearing a backless, burgundy, Burberry gown, is oft photographed in elegant looks by Valentino, Rodarte, and Chanel. Knightley has been a spokesperson for Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle perfume since 2007 and we wouldn't be surprised if she wears the iconic brand to tie the knot.
