Each season, we asks designers to draw back the curtain on their forthcoming collections with a sketch that best captures the inspiration behind their latest wedding gowns. And each season we then find out how those designers—including everyone from Lela Rose to Angel Sanchez to Ines Di Santo—translated their ideas from ink and paper into yards of lace, silk, and tulle. This artful sketch from Douglas Hannant, for example, resulted in a pale blue, floral-printed organza ball gown that helped define one of the biggest trends for Spring 2013—head-to-toe color.
