We're finally able to show you the cover of our much-anticipated May issue! Isn't it absolutely gorgeous? Photographed by Belà Adler and Salvador Fresneda, the cover represents, quite literally, the new face of Brides magazine. "I wanted to reinvent," explained our editor in chief Anne Fulenwider in a recent WWD article. And reinvent we did.
The Brides' logo is new, no longer all uppercase. The cover features minimal cover lines, one of which was also hand drawn. A first for Brides! Another first is the fact that this month we have three covers. On the first, the bride is wearing a confetti-covered Ellie Saab for Pronovias gown, and in place of a traditional wedding bouquet, she holds branches from a Magnolia tree. "I want this to be about casual elegance, so the hair is a little undone, the look is not contrived, and she doesn't look like everyone else," Anne explains.
The second cover features a Yumi Katsura ivory silk satin-faced organza gown with origami swirl bodice. In the model's hair is a single tulip blossom, matched ever-so-slightly to the color of her coral red lips.
The third cover features a Liancarlo Alencon-lace cap-sleeve gown. The anemone and hellebore bouquet is a striking pink and that pout, a subtle Sandwash pink. Here too, the hair is a bit undone, and no where, aside from the Tiffany & Co. diamond stud earrings on the cover, is there an accessory in sight.
The May issue of Brides will be available on newsstands April 24th.
