Lauren and Ben, who both live in Boston, married at the bride's family home in DC. "After looking at venues in Boston, Ben and I decided on my mom's house because it has tremendous meaning to us," says Lauren. Inspired by Audrey Hepburn's look in the film Funny Face, the bride wore a tea-length dress custom made at L'élite Bridal Boutique in Boston. Ben sported a Brooks Brothers suit and a stephanotis boutonniere.
The bouquet was a "globe" of stephanotis. All floral design was by Ohio-based florist Bill Irvine.
The couple married in the home's sunroom, under a chuppah held aloft by the groomsmen. The motif for the ceremony programs, designed by artist Christine Meyers, was inspired by the Italian watercolor paintings in the bride's favorite movie, A Room With a View. All of the wedding stationery, including the escort cards, were created by Scott Poleo, a friend who's a graphic designer.
After cocktail hour inside the house, guests moved into the reception tent, which was rented from Sugarplum Tent Company. "The tent felt like an extension of my mom's house," says Lauren. The couple and their 100 guests sat at tables numbered with Roman numerals and adorned with centerpieces of white roses, hydrangeas, calla lilies, and orchids.
Dinner, catered by Susan Gage Caterers, included steak and Maryland crab cakes. The wedding cake, created by Patisserie Poupon, featured buttercream frosting sprinkled with coconut shavings. "I love anything coconut," says the bride. "The cake was one of the best I've ever tasted." Susan Gage Caterers created a separate array of sweets—cookies, brownies, sorbets, and heart-shaped creme brulées—for dessert as well.

The couple performed their first dance to the Lovin' Spoonful's "Darling Be Home Soon," and everyone danced into the wee hours to tunes spun by The Elegant DJ. "I have a great memory of watching three of my high-school friends dancing to Beyonce's 'Single Ladies,'" Lauren says. "We had to kick people out of the house at 2:30 in the morning!"
