When Diana Kim arrived at a event for the company Ryan Devenish worked for in May of 2011, meeting her future husband wasn't quite the type of networking she'd expected. The then-graduate student entered a raffle and ended up winning a Flip camera, a product Ryan helped design, and she caught his eye when she went on stage to collect her prize. "He told a coworker of his (who happened to be one of my professors) that he thought I was cute," Diana remembers. Whether her professor introduced them or Ryan found Diana on his own is a matter of debate to this day, but either way, their first meeting led to a first date, which led to more than two years together and a romantic proposal in September of 2013.
On August 30th, 2014, Ryan and Diana tied the knot at the Quarryhill Botanical Gardens in Glen Ellen, CA and celebrated the occasion with 120 friends and family. "We wanted an outdoor wedding, and the sprawling vineyards and gorgeous gardens were everything we'd hoped for," says Diana. "The best part was knowing that having our wedding there would help fund and maintain the property!"
Their whimsical wedding was totally beautiful — keep reading to check out all the details, planned by Kelly and Company Events and photographed by Nicole Nelson.

Though Diana started her dress search thinking she wanted something sleek and sophisticated, this Modern Trousseau ball gown stole her heart. "The tulle made me feel like a fairy princess — but a really hip, chic one!" she says. Her bridesmaids were equally chic in ombre blush gowns.

The ceremony was held beneath a towering tree, where guests gathered with cones of rose petals to toss after the vows. The couple's two-year-old niece was the flower girl, in a white tulle dress with a big flower in her hair. "She couldn't walk on her own yet, so Ryan held her hand down the aisle. He walked in to the ceremony with her, and out with me!" laughs Diana.

"Ryan surprised me by saying half of his vows in Korean to honor me and my family. My dad absolutely lost it — so much crying," says Diana.

The welcome table was one of Diana's DIY projects. "We covered the table with strips of fabric in our wedding colors, tied to twine. It was so gorgeous in the breeze."

Champagne flutes rimmed in gold sugar and a photo guest book awaited guests at the reception. They snapped instant photos, then taped them into the book and left notes for the newlyweds.

On the lawn, long tables were set with blush linens and gold chairs. Mercury glass, gilded chargers, and lush cream and pink flowers gave the reception a fairytale feel.

Each guest's place was marked with a mason jar filled with pink dinner mints, hand-labeled by the bride. Gold-painted branches were tucked into the napkins for an extra pop of shine. How beautiful is the mix of garden roses, peonies, and hydrangeas?

Says Diana, who headed to Kauai with Ryan for their honeymoon, "Remember that marriage is about so much more than one day. Enjoy the process!"
