Ciara perfects the art of contouring, Charlize Theron goes for glamorous cat eyes, and Katie Holmes is pretty in pink. Here, the red-carpet beauty looks we loved this week.
Ciara at BET's Black Girls Rock! event: Full, groomed brows and contoured cheeks are the foundation of Ciara's polished look — both help to frame her face and bring out her gorgeous features. (Need a quick lesson in contouring? Using a flat contour brush, brush bronzing powder along the hollows of your cheeks, and apply highlighter on top of your cheekbones. If you have really fair or really dark skin, you can sometimes get away with just using highlighter.) Paired with tons of lashes, peach lip gloss, and shiny, center-parted tresses, Ciara's look would work for almost any type wedding — plus pre-wedding events!
Charlize Theron at the Paris premiere of Dark Places: Black winged eyeliner was the focal point of Charlize's look, says makeup artist Pati Dubroff. She accented the actress's eyes with shimmery white and silver eye shadows, and juxtaposed the dramatic eye makeup with dusty rose blush and nude lip gloss. (She used Dior Rouge Brillant in #310.) A soft, just-undone-enough updo gave her elegant look an air of ease. Love.

Katie Holmes at the New York premiere of Woman in Gold: The actress generally favors a clean, minimal beauty aesthetic, but that doesn't mean she can't subtly change it up. Pink blush and pale pink lipstick brighten her face, and her softly slicked back hair is a perfect option for brides who want to wear their hair down and out of their eyes. To get the look, Alterna hairstylist DJ Quintero applied volumizing mousse to damp hair. With a round brush, he blow dried it straight up and back away from her face, and used a straightening iron on the tips of her hair. He applied cream volumizer with his hands, combed it through to create texture, and finished with shine spray.
