Michael Sam might just have had the happiest birthday ever! The first openly gay NFL player, who famously kissed his boyfriend Vito Cammisano when he was drafted last year, is engaged to his college sweetheart, TMZ reports.
The proposal apparently went down during Sam's 25th birthday and holiday trip to Rome with Cammisano. No word on who popped the question, but TMZ did find a tweet from a close friend congratulating the newly affianced pair. The message reads: "People, he is officially off the market!!!!! My beautiful friend @vitcamm is getting married!!!!!! (AHHHHHHHH!) I love you so much Vit. So damn excited ... so ready to celebrate! @mikeysam52 #vitoisengaged"

Alongside one shot, at the top of the Vatican, he wrote: "Beautiful view from the very top of St. Peter's. Suddenly 25 doesn't feel so old!" On their way there, Michael wrote alongside an adorable airplane selfie, "Wheels up for New Years! Happy, Healthy 2015 to you and yours!"

The draft kiss to Cammisano heard round the world happened when Sam was picked in to the 7th round of the draft by the St. Louis Rams, only to be cut early in the season, picked up by the Dallas Cowboys, and cut again. Before that, Sam was named SEC's co-defensive player of the year in 2013 for his time at University of Missouri. Cammisano is also an athlete, swimming for Mizzou during his college years as well.
From the sound of this news, though, 2015 is definitely looking up.
