Yes, it's true — your wedding is your day. Every aspect should be exactly how you (and your future husband, of course) pictured it. But in the process of planning your big day, sometimes a bride can get a little out of hand. Enter the Bridezilla. So what's okay to do as a bride and what's considered a little overboard? You want things done your way, but you don't want to come off as rude. Case in point: What if you want your bridesmaids to wear matching outfits (down to the shoes and accessories)? Is it crazy for your dictate their whole look? Our etiquette expert weighs in.
Not necessarily. It's appropriate as long as each piece of the look is affordable and each of your girls feel confident in the outfit. Your bridesmaids are there to support you and be there for you on your journey to marriage. They are there to make the leading days to your wedding as stress-free and easy as possible. Your best girlfriends are probably willing to do anything — to a certain extent — to make you happy. So wearing matching shoes and matching dresses shouldn't be a big deal.
That said, if a 'maid or two raises concerns, listen to their perspective. Do they not like the look because it doesn't flatter their type? Or maybe they can't afford every piece of it? If that's the case, you'll want to reconsider your demands. You want to make sure your nearest and dearest feel good on your big day, too.
