If the air smells a little different today, it's because Kate Middleton, one of the most iconic bride of our time, is officially in the U.S.! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in New York yesterday afternoon, and we're sure that their visit to the states will be filled with affectionate photo ops and jealousy-inducing outfits. Auction house Julien's of Beverly Hills sold a piece of their fruit cake wedding cake for $7,500 on Friday, a bid that far exceeds the $2,000 they expected it to go for. The full auction sold several pieces of royal memorabilia, but this was the sweetest by far. The slice comes from the towering, eight-tiered fruitcake created by British baker Fiona Cairns, which she adorned with the couple's monogram and tons of floral details, including 17 different types of flowers and foliage. It took Cairns a whopping five weeks to complete the future King and Queen's wedding cake, but according to CNN Money, it hit its peak flavor after 13 months.

The lucky bidder also got a blank wedding invitation printed on royal stationery along with the slice of cake. Anyone hoping to buy that slice of history still has a chance to acquire a piece of the royal family. Five of Princess Diana's dresses are set to be auctioned off as part of the collection as well; those are expected to fetch $60,000 to $100,000 each.
