It's no secret that her wedding day is a major fashion moment in the life of a bride. All eyes are on her from the moment she walks down the aisle to the very last dance. To help brides look their absolute best throughout the day, some vendors are now offering day-of fashion styling services. But what exactly does a stylist do and what kind of bride could most benefit from hiring one? We talked to bridal stylist Jacqueline Weppner, founder and creative director of Merci New York, to find out.

"A day-of stylist combines the services of a traditional stylist and a dresser," explains Weppner. "She is there to help you and your 'maids get ready — steam gowns, pin, sew, tape, bustle, remove stains, hem — whatever it is that you may need during the day. But the stylist also has a fashion background, so the other half of her job is to help you style your wedding-day shoots — whether that means prop styling your jewelry and shoes for your photographer or staging portraits."

So what type of bride is the best candidate for such a service? "Brides who have a complicated dress or a big bridal party could obviously benefit, since there's just a lot more going on in terms of fashion," Weppner says. "But having a stylist on hand is also really helpful for someone who are not using a planner. For example, if the logistics of her big day are being taken care of by the venue, the bride might not need another coordinator, but could use someone who is solely responsible for taking care of her, making sure all the details are accounted for, and provide that extra peace of mind that a fashion emergency is not going to impact her big day."
