Ali and Mook met in 2008 during Art Basel, an international art fair in Miami. They were both at Casa Tua, a private club and restaurant in South Beach, when they were introduced by a mutual friend. For their wedding, the couple chose The Kampong of the National Tropical Botanical Garden, located on Biscayne Bay.

The bride wore a one-shoulder Vera Wang gown from Ever After. "I loved its streamlined silhouette and Grecian feel," says Ali. The groom donned a custom white dinner jacket.

The ceremony was held on a lawn overlooking the water, where candlelit lanterns lined the aisle.

After the recessional, the couple and their 85 guests walked to the courtyard for cocktail hour. Several lounge areas, were set up so guests could relax and mingle during the reception. The couple worked with event planner Cynthia Seaman of Lasso the Moon Culinary Events. Cocktail hour featured mojitos, caipirinhas, and assorted hors d'oeuvres. Place cards were hand-painted and calligraphed by Bernard Maisner Studio.

The three-course dinner reception included tuna tartare and filet mignon; all catering was by Lasso the Moon Culinary Events. Tables were adorned with damask linens, silver candlesticks, and centerpieces of peonies, tulips, and orchids. All flowers were by Parrish Designs.

Ali, who was pregnant with their first child, asked their event planner to work with a baker to create a cake that would announce the baby's gender to everyone—including the newlyweds themselves! (Pink filling would mean a girl; blue would mean a boy.)

Ali and Mook sliced into the coconut wedding cake, revealing blue cream filling. The couple's son, Maverick, was born the following April. "It was such a fun way for us to share the happy news," says Ali.
