Subtle Crop Top Trend

If you've been keeping an eye on the ready-to-wear runways the past few seasons, than you know that crop tops are a major thing. They're such a big style must these days, that they've even made their way onto a few bridal runways last season. For Spring 2015, the striking style continued to evolve from less midriff-baring pieces to more sophisticated separates.

A modern silhouette, crop tops are less bralettes these days and more like a cool-new layered look. From shimmering scalloped T-shirts worn over billowing A-line skirts, to a lacy gown covers, most of these designs show no skin at all. And if they do, it's a subtle sliver rather than a full-on belly-baring piece.

These upgraded separates are a great way to stay current, but still remain wedding-appropriate. Here, a few of our favorite most recent crop tops from the bridal runways!

Mira Zwillinger: Zwillinger's crop tops this past season were so subtle, it was hard to tell that the top was even cropped! Covered in embellishments, these layers hit just right below the waistline, making it an ethereal, modern, and most of romantic option for brides who want to stay on-trend but aren't ready to bare all.

Houghton: We love Houghton's cropped looks because they do a really great job of contrasting loose tops with a slim-fitting skirt. Whether it's a sequined long-sleeve shirt showing a sliver of skin or the chopped sheath on the right that shows no skin but is completely layered, these are both well-executed takes on a new silhouette.

Monique Lhuillier: Sure, this look is not exactly what comes to mind when you think "crop top" but this layered lace cape-let does exactly what a crop top does — it adds an extra dimension to your gown. Plus, it hits right above the hip. An added piece like this is the perfect solution for the girls who don't want to buy separates but still want something that looks layered.
