When we heard that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's wedding was intimate, we didn't imagine it was this small. Turns out, two would-be key players were missing from the hush-hush festivities: BFF (and groom-to-be) George Clooney and Angelina Jolie's father John Voight.
After news broke, Clooney told People, "How great is that?! I'm really happy for Brad and Angie and their whole family." While his congratulations and joy seem genuine, the reactionary tone makes it seem like he wasn't present for their big day. Does this mean he'll rethink Pitt's role as best man?
As for Jolie's father, it's no secret that the two have had a contentious relationship throughout the years. And while things seemed to get better once they reconciled in 2010, he found out about the wedding when the rest of us did. According to Us Weekly, news broke to Voight while he was doing an interview with CBS's Inside Edition. When asked about the surprise nuptials, he replied he didn't even know it happened and then said "that's nice."

Later, though, Voight released a statement expressing his congratulations: "It seems like it was a beautiful, simple ceremony with all the kids involved," he said. "Must have been a lot of fun. I am very happy for them."
One source says that while many friends were shocked, they all send their well wishes. "This was a total surprise, but something they were obviously planning on doing when the time was right," a source told Us Weekly. "Everyone is happy for them. It was small and family and friends only, just like they wanted. I'm happy they pulled it off. We all consider them married anyway, but now it's official."
More fun details from the secret ceremony include local officials unaware of the festivities and Pitt's covert planning back in July. "No one in Correns knew a thing," an official from the French village where Brangelina wed told People. "It was a marriage which seems to have been carried out in total intimacy and absolute discretion." And it turns out that during a 10-day trip in July, Pitt sneakily visited a local florist to pick out their wedding flowers. How no one realized is beyond us!
