Any couple that is planning their wedding knows just how much emphasis is put on the venue, but getting married at your dream location is much less important than being surrounded by the people you love most. And no bride knows this better than Miriam Davis. The bride recently halted her plans for a traditional church wedding in Michigan and, instead, married at a nursing home one state over so her father could be present.
While planning her wedding the bride-to-be, who was set to marry fiancé Mark Davis in Ypsilanti, Michigan, was worried about being able to accommodate her father. She feared that her dad, Bernard Reeves, a Vietnam War veteran who was diagnosed with advanced-stage Alzheimer's disease in 2006, would wander off if he traveled away from his nursing home for her nuptials. So, in order to make sure the bride and her beloved father were together on her wedding day, the Foundation Park Alzheimer's Care Center in Toledo, Ohio happily worked with the couple to plan a wedding that her father would be able to attend.

"My dad has been my hero my entire life and I know that if he was well, he would be at my wedding front and center," Davis told The Blade before her ceremony. "And I thought, 'Why not move it there and it would be more a special event?"
On Saturday, the beaming bride, escorted by her father, walked down the aisle in front of 30 wedding guests. According to People, guests held back tears during the emotional ceremony. Marie Reeves, the bride's mother, was thrilled that her husband was able to see the last of their six children marry. "Even if he can't sit through the whole thing, we just want his presence," she said before the ceremony.
After the happy ceremony, the couple and their guests traveled to a local restaurant to continue the celebration.
