Justin Alexander launched in 1949 (known then as T&G Bridal) in New York City, during the height of femininity in 20th century fashion. The brand entered the market by offering classically romantic gowns and tiaras, and while their business has grown, their style has remained as feminine and timeless as it was 60 years ago. We sat down with Tony Mentel, one of the designers behind the ladylike label to discuss his favorite trends, their focus on quality, and his favorite celebrity red carpet moments.
Justin Alexander's gowns embrace the soft-layered, ultra romantic trend.
"I love the new soft-layered dresses that offer more movement," said the designer. "I design for real women with real bodies. My goal is to make all brides feel beautiful on their most important day of their lives. Our ideal bride is a woman who wants a dress that expresses her distinctive personality and personal style."

The prices are affordable, but the designer doesn't compromise on fabric quality.
"I love using silk when designing, whether it's a soft fluid silk chiffon for movement, or a crisp silk duchess satin that is great for creating graphic lines," explained the designer. "We work with textile mills that develop a lot of our fabrics specifically for us."
The designer's top three style tips for the big day are simple.
"My top style tips for brides are always primarily, to edit, it's so true that less is more. Also, it's so important to be yourself at your most beautiful. A bridal gown should not be a costume; it should be the perfect complement to who you already are. Lastly, don't stress about the details. Your wedding is about having an emotional experience with the people you love. Smile and be happy, that's what makes a bride look the most beautiful!"

When it comes to red carpet moments, the designer is inspired by graphic colors and bold silhouettes — think Amy Adams and Taylor Swift.
"The red carpet at The Golden Globes was full of my favorite looks — I loved Amy Adams in bold, red Valentino Haute Couture, as well as Lupita Nyong'o in Ralph Lauren (of course!) and Taylor Swift in Carolina Herrera. This award season, I really loved blocks of clean colors in graphic shapes," said the designer. "If I could design a bridal dress for any celebrity, it would be Cate Blanchett. I love her style! I think she is such an elegant and beautiful woman. Her red carpet looks are always timeless."
