Once you've selected a venue and decided what shape and size tables you like, it's time to talk centerpiece ideas with your florist. No matter where you're tying the knot, there's an idea style, shape, and scale for your floral details. But how do you decide where to start?
First, consider the vibe: If you're looking to create a romantic scene, discuss ways to incorporate candles into your floral décor. Prefer the look of an intimate wedding? Pick dramatic arrangements to adorn your bar and escort card table, but keep table centerpieces low and lush.

One of our favorite ideas, though, is for an eclectic, of-the-moment style, which is achieved by mixing centerpiece styles. Although this can be tricky to execute well, we've got tips on how to make it work for you. The "layered" look, or one that uses a variety of centerpieces, is all the rage in the wedding industry and works especially well if you have at least 10 tables. When working with your florist, ask that he or she shoots for this ratio when designing arrangements for your tables: 25% should be short centerpieces, 50% a collections of vignettes (votives and floral arrangements in small vessels), and the last 25% should be comprised of large centerpieces.
Pro tip: No matter what style you go for, aim to put all reception table centerpieces in 26-inch (or larger!) vases to keep flowers from hindering conversations. These larger displays will keep petals out of your guests' sightlines so they can easily chat over dinner.
