It's the final countdown to George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin's wedding! Seemingly confirming widespread rumors that they're planning a September destination wedding in Italy, the engaged duo got their marriage license in London yesterday.
Alamuddin, a powerful lawyer in the city, showed up to Chelsea Old Town Hall for an interview to receive the document. Her A-list actor fiancé did not accompany her, since only British citizens are required to show up for the proceeding. Not that he completely avoided the spotlight: The notice of their intent to marry was posted publicly outside the town hall, which is custom for all marriage licenses. So much for a secret wedding!
Though it's since been taken down, People reports that the wedding location was listed as Italy. As we previously noted, the couple will not say "I do" at Clooney's famed Lake Como villa due to privacy concerns, though they have been spending lots of time with family in his vacation home.
Perhaps they'll instead opt for the 600-acre, 15th-century Villa Mangiacane estate just outside Florence, where Alamuddin officiated her cousin's wedding last month? It sure looked beautiful! Either way, we can't wait to get the details on their nuptials — and now we definitely know that we don't have to wait much longer for them!
