For a couple's first year of marriage, the traditional gift for the momentous occasion is paper. Well, Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger skipped more than a few years and went straight to diamonds!
"I still can't believe my 1 year anniversary gift," gushed the Complicated songstress on Twitter. She continued, "17 carat emerald cut. Wow. I love my hubby," to go along with a picture of the happy couple which included the jaw-dropping ring.

It looks like Kim Kardashian and Ciara have nothing on the punk princess, whose 17-carat ring wattage far surpasses one half of the world's most talked about couple and our illustrious cover girl (FYI, each of their rings weigh in at 15 carats)!
The unbelievable gift comes as no surprise, though. Last year in an interview with PEOPLE, Kroeger shared, "I crave the time I can snuggle up with her and watch a movie." Lavigne added, "After our honeymoon, we were like, let's just go home and be married. Really, our vacation is our home." Though the husband and wife are each rockstars in their own right, they clearly love spending time alone together away from the spotlight.
Like so many musical power couples, Lavigne and Kroeger have both a personal and professional relationship — the Nickelback frontman helped to produce and co-write some of the songs on her fifth studio album last fall, in addition to collaborating on her tune "Let Me Go" and appearing in the music video.
Kroeger clearly has a knack for picking out breathtaking diamonds as he proposed to Lavigne with a 14-carat pear-shaped diamond ring back in August 2012, after just knowing her for a month. The couple were then married less than a year later in the South of France in front of just 50 friends and family, where Lavigne was given her biggest ring of all: a 20-carat emerald stunner.
