Their characters may be besties, but, like much of the rest of the world, Chris Colfer, who plays the lovable Kurt on the hit Fox show Glee, was left completely in the dark when it came to costar Naya Rivera's super-sneaky surprise wedding to longtime friend and fellow actor Ryan Dorsey.
During an appearance on Access Hollywood earlier this week, Colfer divulged that he had no idea Rivera was tying the knot.
"No! I didn't know! But I was very happy for her," Colfer told Billy Bush and guest host Jack Osbourne of his castmate's recent marriage. "They are a cute couple. I think she's very happy."
When asked if he's spoken to the new Mrs. Dorsey since, Colfer replied: "I said, 'Congratulations, that's great.'"
However, like many of us, he has his doubts — so much so that he didn't believe it was real!
"I didn't know it was real at first," added Colfer. "I wasn't sure if I should congratulate because you never know what's real anymore."
The fact that Colfer didn't know Rivera's wedding happened is the one thing that isn't too surprising. Not only did Rivera tie the knot in Cabos San Lucas to her secret boyfriend of less-than-three months, her close friends had no idea they were even dating. A source recently told Us Weekly that, "the whole thing is a complete surprise." The one thing about the affair that wasn't a total shocker? The date, which was set long before these two started dating — Rivera recycled the same date she was supposed to use to marry rapper Big Sean, from whom she called off the wedding in April.
