Have you ever seen a photo that just made you wonder, "Why?!" Thanks to Facebook and rampant Internet memes, they're all over (remember planking?), and they've even invaded the wedding photography world.
Facebook may be responsible for a new cheeky bridesmaid photo trend: flashing your underpants for the camera. The trend caught on a few weeks ago according to an ABC News article, and guess what — we're still seeing exposed bridesmaids' bottoms all over!
But now that we've had some time to form our own opinions about the popular pose (Hint: We don't recommend doing it!), we spoke to Houston-based wedding photographer Morgan Lynn Razi to get her professional opinion on the matter.

Razi herself has never been asked to do a panty shot. If so, she says, she'd discourage it: "If asked, I'd laugh along, but in the end advise against the shot because someone in the group is bound to feel uncomfortable by it."
And it's not just a member of the bridal party who might object. Says Razi, "We are a referral-based business, and I would hate for these photos to circulate and give prospective clients the wrong impression that our studio may have suggested the pose or promotes this type of photography in general."

Of course, it's not uncommon for wedding photographers to get playful (or obnoxious depending on who's judging!) photo requests, but they will steer the bridal party toward the tasteful. "We think outside the moment," says Razi. "It's important to us that the tone of their photos ring true to their personalities. That said, when we are setting up portraits that are obviously not candid moments, we like to read the group and decide how fun they want to get. In the end though, even if they are playful, we like to keep them tasteful."
So how do you ensure that your wedding photos are timeless and present the true spirit of the ceremony? "The best way to achieve genuine, authentic photos is to let expectations — and especially Pinterest boards — go."
