Meet our latest guest blogger Hayley Phelan, fashion features editor at Lucky Magazine. Phelan has been chronicling her experience while planning her New York City wedding to fiancé Chris Black, a creative consultant for brands like New Balance, Wool and the Gang and Harry's. She's already revealed how she found her dream dress and rehearsal dinner look, so for her final installment the editor shares how she chose her bridal hair and makeup.
Walking down the aisle is supposed to be every woman's runway moment, her time to go all out in the fashion and beauty department. It's something I know a thing or two about — the runway, that is — having worked in fashion for several years. I've reported on fashion weeks around the world, attended shoots, interviewed models, makeup artists, hairdressers — not to mention conducting my own "research," poring over runway photos and frequently visiting online forums to see the latest editorials. So it came as somewhat of a surprise that when it came to planning my own turn down the aisle, I was totally stumped. I had my dress, I had my rehearsal outfit — but when it came to figuring out my hair and makeup, my head spun.
I was at a total loss — until I was introduced to White Rose Collective, a brand-new beauty agency based in New York, and founded by veteran hairstylists Teddi Cranford and Andrea Donoghue, who've created backstage looks for the likes of Dior, Marc Jacobs, and Valentino.

Basically, White Rose is a one-stop shop for everything bridal beauty-related — with a high fashion twist. The company aims to bring runway and editorial talent to the bridal industry. Better yet, they organize the whole thing for you so you don't have to stress. You tell them what you want — be it a super elaborate runway-level updo and avante garde makeup, or undone hair and a fresh face — and Donoghue and Cranford will consult their vast network of A-list names to select the best hairstylist and makeup artist for your look. The duo also have a roster of jewelry designers, headpiece florists, colorists and even bridesmaid dress makers on call.

Working with White Rose was super simple. I filled out a survey describing my style and what I was going for on the big day. Originally I wanted my hair to be down and beachy — but I tried on my dress one last time with my hair up and realized that was the better option (brides-to-be take note: it's so important to try your hair with your dress!). For makeup I wanted something super natural and bronzed — à la Diane Kruger in this picture. Luckily, I got exactly what I wanted.
