Tom Gossin, 32, and Jaime Moffett, 32, have music in their blood, so it's no surprise that they chose to wed in Nashville. Tom, singer-songwriter for Gloriana, popped the question to Jaime, a human resources VP, on their 10-year anniversary. Jaime got right to wedding planning, and knew exactly what she and her now-husband wanted. "We've been to so many weddings, and everyone was making such a long trip to be there with us, so we knew we wanted it to be a big party," says Jaime.
The couple chose The Cannery Ballroom for the celebration, and mixed '20s charm with a (very Nashville) Prohibition twist. "We love the speakeasies around town, and it took off from there!" says the bride.
Here are five ideas that really put this wedding over the top.
Start the party early
Guests grabbed a cocktail on their way into the ceremony so they'd be ready to hit the dance floor immediately after "I do." Before heading down the aisle, Tom and Jaime had a champagne toast with their wedding party. "They were just as excited as we were," Jaime says.
Feature family
To make sure the vintage theme hit home, the room was filled with old family photos. As a surprise, the couple's wedding planner, Kathy Best of Front Porch Farms, had Jaime's mother bring her wedding dress to hang near the photobooth.
Do a costume change
Though Jaime loved her ornate Claire Pettibone gown, especially the lace back, she wanted to be able to get down during the reception. So she swapped it out for a black mini dress, complete with a feathered hem perfect for shimmying.
Take a night off
Tom's no stranger to the stage, but he promised Jaime he'd let their wedding band take over for the night. "Anyway," he says, "If I'd tried to sing 'Carolina Rose' [the song he wrote for her], I don't think I'd have made it through the first verse without crying."
Savor the sweets
"Our wedding cake was delicious," says Jaime, "but my real priority was our dessert table!" The couple served carrot cupcakes (Tom's favorite), red velvet cupcakes (Jaime's favorite), chocolate-raspberry shots, and banana pudding shots to keep guests grooving all night.
