A little friendly competition never hurt anyone. Riding the heels of ex-wife Courtney Cox's engagement announcement, David Arquette proposed to girlfriend Christina McLarty, Us Weekly reports.
Arquette popped the question at Mastro's Ocean Club in Malibu with an engagement ring from Roseark, his bride-to-be's favorite jewelry store in Los Angeles. The date is especially significant because the couple's anniversary is the Fourth of July (they reportedly met at an '80s-themed boat party a few years ago).
"He is the love of my life and I love him and my family so much," McLarty tells Us. "I feel like the luckiest girl in the world!"

Another reason she's so lucky? A few important guests were present for the proposal: Charlie, the couple's two-month-old son, and Coco, Arquette's 10-year-old daughter from his marriage to Cox.
"He asked her with Coco and Charlie at a family dinner because he wanted the kids to be there and all of them to be together," a source says. "She was in the restroom at dinner and when she came out, he told her Charlie had been screaming and crying in the restaurant and asked her and Coco to come calm him down outside, and that's when he asked her to marry him."
And while it may seem like his ex-wife's recent engagement could've inspired the act, Arquette had been planning the proposal for quite some time. "He flew to Las Vegas to ask Christina's dad Bud McLarty for permission a while ago, so it's been in the works," that same source said.
It looks like this year's Fourth-of-July-slash-anniversary celebration will be a bit more special.
