Announcing a relationship, engagement, marriage, or baby on Facebook these days is practically second-nature. After all, if your friends and connections don't have digital, visual proof, does it really even count? Newly-engaged couple Steve Kawalit and Nafis Joon took the Facebook aspect of human interaction to the next level by not just meeting on the social media network, but by getting engaged on its Menlo Park, California campus!
The video above chronicles Steve's top-secret plan to propose to his girlfriend of seven years at the company's headquarters, which was fitting considering the pair met after he "poked" her on Facebook in 2007. This led to more interactions, and those led to a coffee date, where Steve was surprised to discover that not only was Nafis as lovely as her photos on Facebook, but she also had a personality to match. The rest is history.

When it came time to propose, Steve, a digital marketing manager, decided to surprise Nafis, a nurse, with a trip to Facebook. He reached out to the social network to tell them his plan — and they were on board. Under the guise of tour, which he claimed he had won as a free contest prize, the Toronto-based couple flew down to California and paid a full-circle tribute to how they met. After the adorable proposal, which you can see in full in the video, Facebook head honchos Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg made a surprise appearance.
As meaningful as the event was on its own, there was a second layer of importance. When they first met, meeting online was less common, and therefore, more stigmatized than it is now. As a result, they never confessed to anyone to having met through Facebook — until now.
