This past weekend may have come to a close, but we're still dreaming about Olivia Palermo's unconventional yet impossibly chic wedding-day ensemble. The shorts! The jutting tulle skirt overlay! The creamy cashmere sweater! Everything about this layered look is as trend-setting as it is unique.
And though she may be the first star to walk down the aisle in shorts, Olivia isn't the first celebrity to say "I do" in something nontraditional. Several boundary-pushing stars have skipped the all-white look, and instead opted for a colorful wedding dress.
While Olivia may have stuck to a classic cream, we know the street-style star would approve of fully-saturated dresses (which, FYI, have also been super popular on recent bridal runways!). From Kaley Cuoco's recent petal Vera Wang gown to Jessica Biel's pink Giambattista Valli number and Keira Knightley's blush Chanel (which she's re-worn a handful of times), plenty of Hollywood's A-listers have expressed their personal style with color.
Yet this tradition of bending the bridal rules is nothing new for celebs — Sofia Coppola wore a perfectly understated lilac Azzedine Alaïa dress in 2011, Gwen Stefani's rocked a dip-dyed John Galliano custom dress back in 2002 (10-plus years before ombre became a big bridal player), and even Elizabeth Taylor beamed in canary yellow chiffon frock when she married on-again-off-again-love Richard Burton for the first time in 1964.
