Raquel Kelley, E! Fashion Police producer and the creative force behind the wedding blog, I Guess I Do, is revealing the three things she wishes she would have known before diving into the land of lace and tulle.
As a producer for Fashion Police on E!, you'd think that after talking about dresses day-in and day-out, I would have been fully prepared for my wedding dress shopping experience. Think again!
Don't fall in love with the idea of a dress.
Fall in love with how the dress looks on you. You may head into your appointment with a specific silhouette or specific designer in mind, only to try it on and have it be anything but flattering.
Take me and rompers for example. I have a slight obsession with them, even though I will never be able to wear one. I am not pint-sized, nor petite, yet I always think it's a great idea to try them on, only to leave the dressing room in a deep depression. The idea of them? Great. The look on me? Not so much.
So even though your heart may be set on a certain style, be open to other options. So many times brides leave with a dress they wouldn't have tried on otherwise!
As Lil Jon says, "Get low."
Of course the dress I chose looked great on me as I was standing on a pedestal and sucking it in, but I didn't realize I couldn't sit in the thing until I tried to put on my shoes an hour before the wedding!
Point being, sit, squat, drop it like it's hot, do whatever you need to do to make sure you are nothing but comfortable on your wedding day. Brides forget they will likely be in this dress for at least eight hours. I can barely keep my jeans buttoned after a bowl of pasta that long! So coming from Lil Jon and me, a bride whose internal organs may never be the same — "Get low."

Saying yes doesn't always equal waterworks.
We've all seen that show where choosing your dress is synonymous with ugly crying. My reaction was, "Cool. Looks good." No tears. No tissues. Nothing. I felt like the bridal gods were cringing at my ice-cold heart. It wasn't that I didn't like the dress. It's just that I'm not a very emotional person to begin with. I didn't even cry at The Lion King as a kid. My mom should have known something was up then, so why would I cry over some silk satin?
Because I didn't cry, I questioned my dress choice every day leading up to the wedding. But what I didn't realize is that my reaction was completely normal, because it was completely me. So just know that however you react to your ultimate dress decision is completely okay — waterworks or not.
