There was no shortage of romance at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's blowout wedding at Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy last week: a ceremony in front of a wall of gorgeous, lush white flowers, dances to live John Legend songs, and heartfelt self-penned vows, all followed up by a honeymoon at an Irish castle. But if the New York Post's Page Six is to be believed, Kimye's nuptials saw a fair amount of wild behavior.
The popular gossip column had a "spy" deliver firsthand information from inside the Kimye wedding — and the published story is almost too insane to believe. There were so many absolutely crazy snippets that we had to cull together the five most absurd.
1. The toilets were a work of art on their own.
As with all outdoor weddings, Kimye had to provide portable bathrooms for their guests. Instead of regular old port-a-potties, they opted for what the Italians call the Torre di Bagni Oro (translation: the Gold Toilet Tower). The privies were contained in a 49-foot gold box. Unsurprisingly the source tells Page Six that, "Their toilet was the star of the show."
2. They forwent place cards.
Instead, they had stonemasons carve the name of each guest into their places at the long marble table. Engraving is expensive and permanent — a lesson Kimye learned the hard way since some of the names were spelled wrong. But so many of the guests brought friends that the seating was off anyway and, reportedly, the only people who sat at their own seats were Kim and Kanye.
3. There was some nude marble madness.
Four days before the wedding, Kimye ordered 30 life-size black marble nude statues. Marble workers worked nonstop to create the statues, but only six were approved for the wedding. They were initially arranged around the dinner tables, but Kanye changed his mind about their location two hours before the wedding. He decided he wanted them further away, so forklifts were called in to rearrange the half-ton sculptures. Guests apparently saw the forklifts (and the toilets) as soon as they arrived at the venue.
4. Kanye redefined the wedding toast.
Traditionally, the best man and maid of honor, plus any parents, in addition to the bride and groom, give toasts. At this wedding, the biggest speech of the night belonged to the groom. Page Six claims Kanye gave a 45-minute toast to himself during the wedding reception. This, of course, happened after Kimye had five first dances alone on the dance floor while John Legend played a custom-built marble piano.
5. The gifts were incredible, too.
Jay Z and Beyoncé were no-shows, but they sent their regards in a fittingly opulent way. Their wedding gift was a giant gold-dipped bottle of Chianti with a diamond cork.
Whether or not these rumors are true, we still think this might be the most epic wedding ever.
