During the months leading up to your wedding day, there will be a ton of parties and events thrown in your honor and you'll look forward to them during the entire wedding-planning process. But do your bridesmaids and groomsmen need to be present at each and every one? Are some events optional, while others are mandatory? What events are mandatory for our bridesmaids and groomsmen to attend?
Be sure to invite your wedding-party members to all of the extra parties surrounding your wedding: the engagement party, bridal shower, bachelor and bachelorette parties, etc. But keep in mind that the only events they are really required to attend are those directly connected to the wedding day itself: the ceremony rehearsal and rehearsal dinner (both are usually held the day before the wedding), and any pre-wedding fashion and beauty meetings, like a bridesmaids' hair and makeup trial or the groomsmen's suit-fitting appointment. Be mindful of how much time and money your attendants are devoting to your special day—travel expenses, especially, add up very quickly if, say, your maid of honor needs to fly in to attend each wedding-related celebration. At the same time, your bridesmaids and groomsmen should place a high importance on being there to celebrate with you during the major festivities, like the bridal shower and bachelor party, but be flexible and understanding if they are unable to make it to every single one.
